Synology DSM6

Well, took the plunge and updated to the DSM6 Beta release for my Synology DS214Play.

So far I've not seen much difference other than a much better looking VideoStation including casting ability from the web UI, so I'm happy already!

Will update this thread as to any other nice things I find useful.

New FS sounds good but means deleting my existing volumes which ain't gonna happen anytime soon, although I could try it on my DS414 if I get bored!

Do you know when is the full non-beta release?

It looks fantastic, I can't wait to put it on my NAS box. The thing I really want is shared folder backup to my old-HDD container (aka old HP microserver), as currently it's handled by a hacked together rsync script.

Was the upgrade painless?

No upgrade problems whatsoever, I obviously can't recommend that people run a beta release but so far so good. With regards to the non-beta release there is a 2nd beta release I believe and then final, so if it follows the same timescale as DSM5 we could be looking at 1-2months potentially
