I'm echoing My Documents to a USB drive attached to my ASUS RT-N66U router.

All looks well until I delve into individual folders, some are empty, no PDFs have copied across.....

Any ideas?

Try it with the USB drive attached to the computer just to see whether the router/smb etc is somehow getting in the way.

Is it just PDFs? Does it work for other files/small files?

Works for Word, Excel, Ppoint, images, all photos are backed up ok, will try the USB cable connection.

So the question is, whats special about the PDFs.

Or, has the sync just not completed and its just coincidence that you found a missing PDF?

Are you running the sync from synctoy or scheduling it?

What copy mode are you using?
Sync, Echo or Contribute?
If you are using Echo or Contribute without initially Synchronising the folders, and you have no new or updated files, then the program will not find anything to copy.

Sorry guys, been busy at work - will check this when I get home - I'm using copy & did do an initial sync - I think......

My version of Sync Toy doesn't have a "Copy" command, only Sychronize (sic), Echo or Contribute.
You use Sychronize for the initial copy and then either Echo or Contribute for updates.

My mistake - I'm using "echo".
Just unmounted the drive & attached it to the laptop - all the files are there, PDFs, images, the lot!
If I preview an echo of My Documents it finds no data to move, which is ok. Still can't figure why the folders appear empty though..............
