Yes
I was testing out my new grid this morning and this was taken @1/800th F4.

I used a Nikon D750, SB700, Yongnuo Yn622N and a Yongnuo YN-622N-TX.

Flash was in manual mode. Flash off camera.

I though the maximum sync speed for OCF with Nikon was 1/200 and expected the black shutter curtain bars.

Can anyone clarify what happened, that is why was I able to go over the sync speed.

Cheers.

Yep, your sync speed will be set to 1/250 FP or 1/320 FP and the flash will have recognised this and used HSS.

Thought so, cheers, apart from the diminishing flash power (and battery draining) are there any other drawbacks to HSS?

Cheers.

Not IME but I'm not a lighting nut like some of the guys in this section. The power is reduced a fair bit though due to the pulsing nature of HSS.

Power reduction is greatly misunderstood with HSS

Firstly once you go past max sync speed you have to consider it as constant light so 1/500 for me is 1 stop below max sync hence I have lost 1 stop of light - my own tests on a number of lights (other lights may be very different) indicates that if you could measure it at 1/500 it looks like 2 stops underexposed (1 stop HSS mode loss and 1 stop because we have halved the constant light recording ability), go to 1/1000 and you will lose another stop i.e. you have halved the lighting duration again, so to compensate you can up ISO, change aperture for some circumstances.
