I did spot a few smaller outfits doing it but there was one recently that went belly up I remember.
I pretty much swicth every 14 months have done for a good few years now.
its the way forward.

also saisnburies energy couldn't get me a smart meter

I switched to OVO, agreed to let them install smart meters, turns out they could only do the leccy one. Not very smart after all.

Sainsburies are just no on the list for smart anything according to the meter fairies.

We are with Sainsbury's energy after switching from Npower earlier this year we saved almost £300.
Our new meters are being fitted on Monday 11 Dec. so they are getting on with it.

I've just switched from M&S (SSE I think) to Npower and supposedly going to save a few quid, or more likely the wife will turn the stat up a couple of degrees :)
Supposedly easy and straightforward, well, the gas went ok and we got a refund, however the leccy seems to have not moved so smoothly, no refund (yet) despite being in credit on the last statement (by quite a lot) and M&S/SSE taking this months standing order when they shouldnt have and having called them twice and assured everything is going well. Npower havent taken anything (yet) so I suppose I'll get a double whack after Xmas, oh goody, just when I'm skint being self employed and having a 2 week forced shutdown and all the bills coming in, timed that well didnt I.

doesn't surprise me to be honest,
apparently our gas meter old shool one is going EOL so I asked for a smart one to be installed.
they said no, is suspect they have a lot of old meters kicking about.

Can you get round the back of them like you could the old fashioned ones, so I was told?

Been with E-on for years now. They used to give you clubcard points which was worth about £40-50 year to me but it's been stopped :( and they're annoyingly scrupulous about adjusting your direct debit if you over/under pay, which is twice a year for me. I'd rather pay a little over the odds during the summer to cover the higher usage in winter but I gave up trying to convince them of that so every autumn they drop the DD because I'm over paying and every spring they raise it because I'm underpaying.

Been with E-on for years now.
I was was with them for a few years too, except the other year, they wanted to increase by over 300££ ( duel fuel)
And yet I was getting rebates at the end of the year at the current tarrif.

Went to SSE and saved nearly 400£ so almost a £100 off their original tariff.
SSE were playing silly buggers this year ( end of the year) U-Switch came up with Eon and made £100 saving.
So even cheaper than the tarrif a year ago, without the rise.
If they keep this up, they should be paying me shortly :D

Totally agree

Same here, I'd rather be well in front before Winter.

We were paying about £110 per month last year (Co-Op) for duel fuel, then several months ago they reduced our payment to £88 because we were well in front.
A couple of weeks ago we got another letter saying we were still in credit & they'd reduced the DD again to £78 :wideyed:
(Was going to put it back up, but as we're hoping to move In January, we will be near level by then & easier than trying to claim it back.)

Just cant be bothered with all the grief for a few quid, took out a fixed price deal couple of years back and its worked out ok.
No smart meter wanted here or water meter thanks very much, times too valuable to spend it ringing the various providers up when it all goes awry

People scratch about saving 30 quid a year here or there, but then smoke, drink, gamble it away or keep changing cameras every month.
You might think I'm wrong, but we all waste money in a way that suits us and that for me is having an easy life

It is so easy to swap.
And if you are saving a couple of hundred pounds a year, for 15 min work, it's a no brainer.

are we still talking meters here?
what was around the back that you where told about? LOL

My step Dad had it on good authority you could bypass an electric meter, although he never tried it and tbh neither would I, not because it's dishonest, more because I wouldn't fancy a belt off the mains coming into the house, no idea what it would do to you but it's a big fat cable so my guess is not a lot of good.

More than a few people suffered burns or electrocution from these alterations, also gadgets that stop the meter.

Not always so easy, heard from colleagues and neighbours about all the agro they have had sorting it out.
Also the woman a few doors away has never had a correct bill since she had a smart meter fitted

Personally found you can get a good deal by signing up for a deal with your existing supplier who want to keep you
Got my BT bill reduced by a tenner a month by agreeing to an eighteen month deal, same with BG for a fixed price for a two year agreement.

I challenge pretty much everything price wise nowadays when renewals are due.

house insurance
car insurance
AA recovery
bike insurance x2
mobile phone x2
broadband
energy gas/leccy

with stuff like gocompare once you enter your details and save them each time it is a few minutes work
anyone that doesn't is playing into these folks hands.

Fair play to you
But it is so simple these days, even I can do it :D

U-Switch for energy
Compare the market for insurances, house / car and anything else you can think of.
As the bumpy fella say's your details are stored and you just update what ever is required, next time you log in.

The comparison sites are hugely popular. What amazes me is the profit margin they make. Let's just say that it is considerably higher than the circa 5% that the energy companies make!

some things there is not much movement on, like virgin media.
I rang them up a while ago paying £33 for my BB and they had nothing on offer.
I could have had TV and actually get a discount of £2/month but I couldn't be bothered with the box below the TV.
