Swapping Pentax K-R for Nikon D2?

Hiya
I'm just wondering if swapping my Pentax K-R for a Nikon D2 would be a wise idea? I shoot pets, landscapes and events so I need a something that can keep up with the action when needed.
I don't know if I should buy better lenses for the camera I currently own of if to swap to Nikon before I start buying expensive lenses.
I'm wanting a more professional camera as i'm currently a student but i'm hoping to go into photojournalism in the near future. The Nikon D3 is out of my price range at at the moment unless I can find one second hand but I would consider it in the future.

I think you would be much better of with a D300, better AF performance and better image quality. The D300 also has 3D AF tracking and sensor cleaning which the D2 doesn't.

doesn't modern pentax stuff review well? You may not need to swap brands, only downside to pentax is no fullframe atm
flash and light stuff will help as much as a better camera
