All,

I am considering swapping my D7200, Nikon grip, 35mm dx and 17-55 dx lens for a D3s... several dealers have offered a straight swap with no money exchange and I am sorely tempted!

I have a D810 for portraits and landscapes and the D3S will be used for sports (including indoor).

To me it seems a no brainer... but I am trying to see if i have overlooked anything!

I have an offer, from CEX of all places, to do a straight swap for one they have in stock, awaiting shutter count but comes with a 2 year warranty.

Alternatively, I could trade it all in at MPB and go with one from WEX with a 12 month warranty - I have options!

Would I be made to make this trade - given I would then be all FX Nikon?

It is the little things that experience teaches you to consider when looking at owning more than one camera.

Like memory cards and batteries. Pretty sure d3s is compact flash so you may already own them for your d7200 and d810. But the batteries will be different, not saying it's a deal breaker but just be aware of it.

The D3S has a beast of a battery. It will last and last, nI only ever ra one out once at an Indian wedding.

But I don't think it is a no brainer. a used D3S and used d7200 have around the same value (without the grips or lenses included with the d7200). The d3s, whilst a beast of a camera and excellent is now 9 year old tech and the sensor tech is older then that (in digital terms its ancient)
