Hi,
i've just recently sold an item on ebay ,everthing was dandy untill the next day when i noticed the payment in paypal was put on hold and i haven't been able to contact buyer since .I'm not going to post item until i find out whats going on :) .Anyone have any ideas :help:

It has happened to me three times. Once the guys mother was rushed into hospital, the second had to wait three days for the funds to get transferred and the third I never heard of again. I should just hold on a couple of days before you decide to relist it.
 
When I've sold items on ebay that are of a high value, I have found that PayPal automatically puts the payment on 'hold' until the buyer confirms that the item has been received. Then the funds are released by PayPal to you. Check whether that is the case because, if so, then the funds are there and waiting and you just need to send the item. Hope that helps.

Yeah thats right. Its happend to me. Unless your a power seller or something like that tehy hold the funds until the person who bought the item has left feedback. I had to keep messaging one guy asking him to leave feedback so the money would be released to me. Its annoying to be honest and slows down the whole proccess!

Paypal do that as a matter of course for high-value items if you don't meet certain criteria as a seller. The topic has been covered here on TPa couple of times in the past, so if you do a search you will be able to see if you fall into the category of seller that they would be likely to include in this scheme.

unless I'm missing something isn't the thread title wrong - unless you are suspicious of yourself, which is a kinda cool dual personality trick going on :)

I'm having the same problem. Anything over £50 (from eBay) gets held in Paypal until you receive positive feedback from the seller, or 21 days pass.

After the 21 days, you need to contact Paypal and they will release the cash.

I know I got a bit twitchy when I didn't receive any feedback, but after 21 days and 1 hour, I emailed Paypal and the money was released within hours.

I'm really not enjoying selling my stuff through eBay.

I havnt had that problem, Ive just sold 5 times on ebay, most of the at nearly £100 each and they havnt held it back form me.

But never let it go until you can get the funds?
 
Well ... i'll not be selling on ebay again because they suit themselves and their charges are unbelievable total rip off .I'm a great believer that if i pay through the noes for something i expect value for money ,ebay fall well short of that category in my mind :thumbsdown::thumbsdown:
 
Seems as though they have different rules for different people.

I sold a few items lately for several hundred and had no problem spending the money straight away, maybe you have to build up some sort of feedback/trust from paypal.
 
If your feedback number is low, then they hold the cash. I'm up to about 50 now, so it's stopped happening, but when I started (at 11) it was held.

Might depend on what type of paypal account you have also, verified/unverified business/personal...
 
i had that once and told the person if it does not clear no item will be shipped even if it was pay pal holding the money i still dont trust them anyway i think he must of ticked recived it cleared within the hour only ever happened once im over 300 feedback on e bay so i hope i dont get another one
 
I've recently bought on ebay to the value of £250, didn't pay via paypal, paid in person on collection. My sones friend had a similar problem as mentioned on this thread, 3 days later an emial was received from ebay alerting her to a bogus buyer. Poor love had already sent the goods as the buyer told her payment was held. We ended up racing to the sorting office 3 hours away at 5am in the morning to intercept the parcel!
 
i wonder how much interest payscam rake in for this jolly little wheeze of theirs :bang:
 
it is highly annoying. i once bought an item off ebay for the value of £110 and id just sold a couple of items earning me £340 little did i know because i only had 34 feedback that i couldnt pay because they hadnt left feedback!
