A happy chappie indeed, nicely taken and presented Susie (y)

Thank yooooo Cobra :)

Liking the collage and use of all the pics there, conveys the theme perfectly. What software did you use for the collage?

Thanks Michael @michael23 ....I used the same program as the one for my teddy bear one ....its called Pic Monkey ...I think its for kids ... which suits me :) it's really easy to use and has some great effects.

Nice collage of a happy child; definitely suits the theme

Thank you (y)

Hi Susie, I think any one of the photos would work on their own, I do have to say I am not fond of the collage as it looks like one of those awful frames people have with pictures of the family in

Hi Allan ... what awful frames ....I love them :) .... I wanted the end result to be bursting and full of exuberant happiness, thats why I chose so many shots.

Have to agree with, Allan, on the collage, I might have opted for a tryptic.

He does look very happy, though.

Cheers.

Thanks Andy ...explanation as above :)

Blimey Susie... a lot of fun action in this collage, the amount of frames sure does take my eye away from the background, happy as happy can be :)

Much appreciated DK

Miniature - great ideas for the theme, first and third images for me(y).

Happy - again wonderful work from you, she certainly looks happy.

Thanks Mandy ....by the way she's is a he :)

Absolutely perfect, so much fun

Thank you Lee (y)

Miniature: No 2 for me, because I had to really search to find the surfer, so he's exceedingly miniature!

Happy: Fab shots and a super keepsake of a happy day out

Hi Susie - can't keep me at bay for long, I'm afraid :)

Old - great colours in that first pic. Definitely looks like it's in need of the dry dock (or the scrapyard)!
Metal - super composition for me and I like the low key lighting. Focus is a tough one on this - I can see why you wanted narrow DOF, but I might have rotated the pen slightly so it's all in the same focal plane, allowing the tip and writing to be sharp? The lid could still be OOF as you have it. (Or a smaller aperture, of course!)
Captive - funny and the note is a great touch. Not so keen on the lighting if I'm honest - I know it's the look you wanted, but it just feels as if it could do with a good stop more exposure for me. Of course, then you might be blowing out his right foot and the knife blade. Great thinking for it though and in the circumstances, good to get a shot and great to get a funny one :)
Miniature - last one for me and although I'm not often a big fan of T&S, it works well with the highly saturated processing to give it a proper "toyland" feel. Very very cleverly done for me as it takes what would be a "regular" photo and makes it really work in the context of the theme. Smart Susie!
Happy - love the montage of Archie. Wonderful flattering natural light and boy does he look happy! Great job.

Very much appreciate your detailed comments Paul ....a big :ty:

Definitely Happy Susie. (y) ... but maybe the framing montage thing might look better in a happy colour ... rainbow maybe.

Hi Suzie, a very nice spur of the moment capture. He looks full of happiness (and energy!)

Thanks Rob ....he has more energy than me that's for sure :)

Ta d00d ...I did try colours on that frame ...must admit not rainbow, but because the photos were rather dull in their colouring I found the colour seemed to overtake the photo's o_O

Hmmm ... yes I see what you mean.

I thought of the idea for the 'abandoned diet' on Friday ...so I bought some more cream cakes today.... sigh ....the things we do for this thread :) I wish now I'd positioned the magazine slightly differently, but the cream was melting on the hot chocolate and I've eaten the cake so it will have to do!

Also, my friend has gone on holiday and her little cairn terrier came to stay today, I felt she had that rather sad abandoned look so I've included her too.

I really wanted an outdoor shot but it's really windy and cold ...so that will have to wait for a re-shoot.

Well shot, I love the fire in the background too, and that pastry looks absolutely divine

Abandoned diet is a great idea for the theme at this time of year, well executed. That's a lovely photo of terrier but I'm not entirely convinced it's been abandoned ;)

I've obviously got a lot to learn about this 52 lark, a couple of weeks ago I was lying down in the snow to get a shot, you got a cream cake ... o_O

Brilliant 'happy' shots of your grandson  and love your 'abandoned' diet - I have been there so many times  and the terrier shot is beautiful:clap:

Really great story telling in the diet image. Very well composed too. You got a lot in the frame there and it all works well. How did you light the froground ?

Hi Susie, great interpretations for abandoned, it certainly makes a change from abound buildings. Great composition, lighting. The whole fire and drink makes me want to snuggle down with a blanket and a good book (Y)

Again great composition on the second, the b/w suits it perfectly. I has a nice softness. I have to admit I thought of doing a shot of my dog, but she won't lie still long enough or stop looking happy to see me :)

Thank you Colm...the cake was delicious :)

:D it's always good when you can eat the props Chris ...thank you for looking in.

What a brilliant idea for the theme, cream cake and hot chocolate YES please for me too.

Thanks Stan ...I'd been racking my brains for an idea and that one suddenly came to me.....it was delicious.

A very clever take on the theme and beautifully taken - the magazine and fire make it sheer perfection. I love the terrier shot, took - he looks so mournful!

Thank you Emma :)

The diet definitely starts again on Monday Liz  ...thank you for looking in.

Thanks Gary ....it's just natural daylight from the window ...it is a very big window though!

Thanks Chris ...that's exactly the feel I wanted to get with the cake shot so I'm glad I achieved it.

With Flora I really wanted just her face to stand out so I added a couple of effects to soften the edges....much appreciate your comments :)

Nice one susie (y) ... OOF BG fire, inclusion of slimming mag.

Terrier pic is soft but detailed ... did you use white vignette? (I've not sussed how to do that).

Thanks d00d ....yes I used the good old Pic Monkey for the vignette ...I used Frost and then Focal Soften to really soften the edges....I was pleased with the end result ...I know PM is simple but it does have some really good effects on it.

Hi Susie,

I really like your metal shot. The name on the nib is super sharp and the lighting is superb :)
Captive is a fantastic shot  No crit from me.
The surfer wins Miniature for me. He/she looks too small. Marmite is very clever as is the TS effect on the boats. The in focus part of the lamppost in the foreground takes away a bit of the effect but I am splitting hairs now.
I quite like the collage for Happy. It's like a happy overload! :) Well thought out.
I think the first abandoned shot for me. Good interpretation of the theme (y)

Susiejb 52 in 2016 Abandonded ...as Cobra would say!
I'm never going to live that down am I? :D

Poor dog :( I'm looking after my brothers dog for a few days too, so I sympathise :D

The coffee and cake hits the spot, very nicely presented and taken Susie

Ha! Just spotted the Slimming Magazine! How slow am I! Love the story telling here and the image is very strong! Never easy getting food to look good enough to eat ! I am sure Flora is missing the cake and not her owner!

Abandoned #1, I'm with you on this one :)

Flora, wonderful dog  Lovely detail in the fur and I don't really mind about the partially covered face...in fact I think it adds to it.

Cheers.

Very nice pictures. I'm hungry now ...

:) Thanks Ian

Thanks Tim :)

Partly my fault Richard ....I should have placed the magazine better, but I'd eaten the cake
