weekly Susiejb 52 in 2016 Celebrate

The photo of the papers is very good and even more so for the story behind it, the stone looks good and perhaps is a bit more easily understood as a "personal" image but I'd have to go with the papers, the lighting, DoF, sharpness of the edges, very well done.

Thanks Chris ....perhaps my love of words came across in the shot :)

Excellent job on the papers," oh for the written word "
Lovely story with the heart.

Thank you Walter (y)

I loved the backstory on both of these shots Susie - I really admire your self-discipline with the writing. I like the lighting on this one a lot and the quotation from JK Rowling is perfect - reading has given me so much pleasure over the years I can really identify with it.

Thank you Emma ...there's nothing like getting lost in a book is there. I'm glad you like the quote, it was hard to decide on which one to use but I think that one sums it up well.

Hi Susie,

Bit of a catch up from me. Some beautiful images as always.

Artificial: A lovely choice of image. Colours are so vibrant and image is lovely and sharp.

Living World: Great image. Love how the drops of water are frozen.

Spiky: Both images work. For me the first image emphasises the spikes more.

Living World reshoot: great focus on the eyes. Lovely colouring.

Personal: Air of mystery with the first image added to by the blurring of the words. All explained in your commentary. Love the story of the second image. Lovely to keep little keepsakes like this. Both fit the theme well.

Artificial - whilst it may have been simple it is effective great colours
Personal - both great pictures. I like the papers best as a picture but I love the back story of the stone.

Hi Susie, the heart pebble is a good image and a great back story but personally I love the papers. It works for the theme (and I more or less guessed the connection without reading your explanation) and the lighting and conversion is absolutely spot on. In fact, it would make a fantastic stock photo

Hey Susie :)

Hmmmmm I'm torn with these two, love the colors and texture of that sand, but I keep getting pulled to that great pile of paper and text.... ... no b****r it, the heart pebble has pulled me with all them little bits of colour, winner

Love the personal papers ... compo, lighting & DoF spot on. (y)

And the pebble :agree: using the beach as BG. (y)

Thank yoooo DK :)

Like both and obviously the stories are personal effect. As you explained the image doesn't really convey the theme without explanation.

Nice found by your hubby. Like the idea of using sand as background.

Thanks for looking in Stan ...I felt it looked at home on the beach :)

Ta d00d ....I did it in b&w originally but added the effect in Pic Monkey.

Love the pages from your pages from your stories is super Susie

Great pebble ! Nice shape and well lit! I love the colours of the gravel against the stone. Good story tellers are few and far between so well done on the dedication required - and keeping up with the 52! Full of respect!!

Hi Susie, both work for the theme but the papers for me it gets across the personal theme so well both lighting and composition work

Thanks Allan ....I like that one too.

Hoped to get out today but weather is rubbish, so I fiddled around with something that I've tried again a few times lately without any success. I have literally fussed and fiddled all day, water drops can be very frustrating to do :runaway:so whether its perfect or not this one is going on :)

Great effort Susie, well done for persevering, I can't see lot wrong with it and I can imagine it is a right faff getting a shot like that set up.

Great EFFORT well done WM

Thanks Chris, yes it does take a bit of getting right, the water drops fall off, your flower falls over, too many bright reflections !!!

Very clever, I like that Susie.
If that isn't perfect, I'd love to see what you think is ! :)

Thanks Tim ......the reflections aren't quite as sharp as I would have liked ....should have used my tripod, but I'm glad you like it :)

Great EFFORT well done WM

Thank you William.

Great Effort Susie, Love the colour.

Thanks Stan ....those flowers really are bright, I bought them with this shot in mind.

Not wrong with it Susie, you succeeded!

Thank you Naka :)

That's wonderful Susie. I like the perfect reproduction of the flower in each of the eight droplets. I can imagine it being a bit of a nightmare to get right. Full marks for experimenting - always learn so much more than when simply shooting a scene.

:) thanks Debbie.

Thanks Carl ....it was on my mind to get it right as the last twice I tried it just wouldn't work and I don't like failing at something I know I can do .....so I've done it now, it's ticked off the list :)

Love both the Personal shots Susie but the papers edge it for me. I love the processing and it stands up even without the explanation. The second shot is something I did a few years ago for the same reasons as you and the photo is almost identical - great husbands think alike :D

That Effort shot certainly looks like a lot of Effort (and patience too I would guess) Bravo :clap::clap:

Personal - I prefer the heartstone I think many could relate to that it just exudes personal.

Effort - I'm sure lots of effort went into that shot and it was worth it. Well done, great image that fits the brief well.

Susie, that's a beauty for effort.
I know what a pain it can be to get the right drops for the refraction to work.

top job there Susie, love the colour,:)

Thanks Walter :)

That's a coincidence about the stones .....what nice hubbies we have :) yes patience is a must for the water droplets!

Thanks Steve ....much appreciated (y)

That is a GREAT effort Susie - well done for keeping going back to get it right. It looks fantastic - the perfect dof for the flower in the background to not be a distraction, but showing what it is. Lovely!

Thanks Emma ....I'm pleased you like it :)

Thank Ruth ....it's one of those things that's worth messing with when you get the end result.

I echo everyone else comments - A fantastic effort Susie. Lovely shot

Thank you Lee (y)

Super shot for Effort, Susie. That's something I want to try and yours is a great example with those sharp images in the droplets and the lovely strong colour.

I'm sure you'll enjoy trying it Andrea ....it just takes a bit of patience.

Good effort indeed Susie, lovely bright flowers

Thanks Allan :)

Thats proper weird I just spent an half hour on the web looking at how to do these :-)

Great effort. I just have to have a go now.

Gaz

Susie, love love your first Personal image, perfect exposure and DoF, makes me want to run my finger over the end of the paper. Words are something that is hard for me to express, so my post on here for critique will usually be short and sweet.

Well done for all your effort with the flowers and water drops. Love the red nice and powerful.
