Here we go ...my addition to step....a sort of :runaway:week for me really. I spent ages on Saturday on the first one, I made the footprint using marbling ink on water, and spent loads of time editing it to get the final pic, but I'm not sure about it at all ...soooo I decided to have another try with the second idea..which has been edited to death with every effect under the sun tonight, I really must just call it a day on that one and just go for it. I am off on my hols tomorrow and daren't spend any more time messing. I am away for three Fridays...but I haven't given up :) I will hopefully be able to hop on and see what each weeks challenge is, and submit some pics when I can.

Definitely the first one for me! I had a similar idea when I first saw the theme, but using footprints in sand. However, as I don't have a handy beach nearby I quickly gave that up as a bad job. I wouldn't have a clue where to start to create something like you've done - and even if I did, I'm certain it wouldn't look like footprints

A great job well done and well worth the effort that went into it  Have a great holiday :)

Two great images Susie (y) like the processing on the second, certainly gives it an old look to it. Out of the two, 1st one gets my vote, a fun image, well thought out, good colour (y)........Happy holidays :)

susie ... I can see you've been having a lot of fun with that first step pic

... but that second pic I like

... even if that grown-up pair of boots looks superimposed

you've created something special.

nice idea for the first, very striking red and black image, and certainly fits with the title, or the title fits with the image.

I do like the second, but as David says the big ones look slightly un-real, I think due to the lightness around the toes compared to that around the toes of the small ones. Apart from that though - the overall processing works well and really suits the subjects

Good to experiment though, I find the layer opacity slider very useful and have been known to like an effect... but still like it at 50% opacity.

Step - 2 very good ideas and both on theme. Such a contrast between the two. Modern art versus sepia vintage! #1 well handled and well aligned . Good colours
#2 - excellent idea and such a good title. Agree with others re the 'stuck on' treatment but I would not know how to do what you have done so (y)

Hi, second image works well besides the obvious faults that have already been pointed out, doesn't detract from a great idea

#1 just looks like some clip art to me - sorry - but #2 has some real potential. The background texture works nicely (maybe just some attention to the top of the left boot) as has the processing feel you've given to it.

A belated thank you Peter...I was a bit disappointed in the footprints and do tend to agree...considering the work that went into it, I felt it ended up looking a bit bland. The boots....I put a flare in the corner that i don't think I needed ...it lightened it up a bit too much, its knowing when to stop really !

Right, it's catch up time for me, my first pic for Nature /Natural was quite hard to choose as I have taken some lovely flower pics but I decided to go for something different....the natural way to cook....a delicious paella that we enjoyed on the beach on our last day. The two Action shots speak for themselves...my grandson having fun :)

Hi Susie, think you have really captured that fire well in your natural shot, a very natural looking fire indeed.

Action: the first one with the splash sticks out to me as the better one simply due to the moment you captured.

Nature/Natural - you've really caught the colour and movement of the flames well and that bamboo screen in the background gives an extra feeling of back to nature

Action - is your grandson's name Dynamo? That second shot has frozen his jump so well that he looks as though he's levitating! I think I prefer the first one though - he just looks like he's having so much fun (y)

The little lad in the waves is the pick for me there.... frozen the wave nicely.. at just the right time too.

Hi Susie
natural - not doing much for me I'm afraid. a bit lacking in a focal point of interest and a bit of a shoehorn.
Action - 2 good shots but #1 gets the vote because of the body facing and moving towards the camera. Super expression and a big splash just behind him:clap:

Hi Susie, natural not really working for me but the first action shot is excellent

Hi Simon...thank you for the comments...I did get the grandson to do lots of running and jumping...poor soul :)...but I was pleased with the wave one.

Hi Elaine...I'm just having a mad catch up....thank you for the comments ...re 'Dynamo'...he never stops...running, jumping, leaping  I don't know where he gets his energy.

Hi Alan...I think I maybe took the word 'natural' a bit too literally on that one, still I had a lovely lunch when it was cooked :) Glad you like the wave one....I took loads but it was difficult to capture that split second splash.

Hi Susie, not sure about these don't know why, perhaps the contrast between dark and light is to much

Hi Susie
Mono - i really like those. I think that the lighting has added that mystery and with the back story of carnivorous plant, I really get the idea. only looking on a netbook at moment and cannot get the whole of either shot on my screen without scrolling but if i had to choose, I would go #1 because I like those 'tubey' bits at the bottom which also add to the atmosphere of the shot(y)

Thanks Alan :) we visited the Royal Cornwall Show last year and became hooked on these plants, they are fascinating...I had no idea they would give such an amazing flower, the strange thing is the flower has no colour...it's completely green ! (well I know that's a colour but you know what I mean o_O)

Hi Susie, action shots capturing the splash of the wave and the frozen jump are great (y)

Your mono shots I find interesting, at first glance I though it look a little like smoke  prefer the first, wider crop adds more interest, focus looks good on the centre of the flower, like the lighting and it works very well against the black bg for me (y) :)

Theses are great - interesting shapes in the flower. I too first saw smoke art so not just Phil there!

Think I prefer the second, with the more "usual" compostion, and less distractions, lovely detail on the little seedy bits in the middle (sorry, need to gen up on my flower terms I think).

And I think you were sooo right to bring a bit of warmth into the highlights here... much better than the desaturated version of the same shot.

The first one is great, I thought it was bones from the way it was lit.

Thanks for looking Mark....yes I can see 'bones' too now that you mention it :)

Thanks Phil....the wave one was fun. With the flower I did try hard with the lighting and took loads...hundreds ...I knew what I wanted to achieve...which is not always a good thing o_O

Thanks Graham....that's good that you like them :).....I did try hard with them. I saw your reply regarding the four images, I have some of the jumping one that I think I could do that with...I really fancy having a go.
