Good attempt. I prefer #1 and the red colour. It's really difficult stuff to shoot, I agree.

Glad to hear that this isn;t as easy as it looks - think I made the right decision to steer away from it.

Wonder if being brave and just posting up the second minimnal curvey floaty one would have paid off for you?

I really like it!

Have to agree with above comments 2nd one for me too

well done for attempting something you've struggled with. maybe a faster shutter speed would help you to freeze the smoke and get a bit more detail. Number two looks very good though. very abstract and minimalistic with good colours. I'd leave it horizontal.

Thank you ..... it does involve a certain amount of patience, and I did find it quite frustrating when I couldn't get it right !

Well, I hovered between the two....I really liked the ribbon effect in the red one although I know it's not as 'clean' as it should be, but I did like the blue one too.....so I went for both in the end.

Like your Lemon bubble #1 (y)
#1 for the smoke also

Thank you for taking the time to comment :)

I like the abstractness of #2. The tones are nice. It could almost be a slither of light coming through a stained glass window.

Thank you....yes it does look like that doesn't it....I did really enjoy adding the colour and did loads of different ones....I think I made the right choice in the end.

I do enjoy trying out new things and don't give up easily....thank you for the hint, I shall definitely give it another try. I think number two is an image I could live with.

Like the first one, struggled with this one myself so know how you feel :)

:) I think a few have struggled this week.

#1 smoke shot for me too. great shot in what seems a very tricky week

Number 2 for me, it's almost Northern Light ish. I like its minimalism and the colour in it.

Thank you Simon and Simon :) I must admit they have really grown on me....I 've really enjoyed this challenge.

It's Friday ... and a new topic :D I am enjoying this !

Hi Susie, I am coming to your tread a little late in the week, sorry.
My vote would go to #2 for smoke, I like the abstract nature of it and the vivid colour tones (y)
As someone mentioned above, it looks a little like the Northern Lights, I agree, good work Susie.

HI Susie

no crit from me as I didn't even get half as close to a smoke image as you've managed so a (y) from me

Thank you Lynne and Iain :) I am posting my mineral pics because otherwise I shall just keep messing about with them  As usual I took absolutely loads so it was hard to choose in the end...but it has to be done, so these are my final choice. I found the salt crystals fascinating and may well have another go with them later this week.

This was my original idea...mineral water

But I couldn't resist these tiny little salt crystals, I found them fascinating....I couldn't choose between these two

Salt crystals for me too Susie, I also find them fascinating (y) prefer the wider crop, the square pyramid like shape on its side makes it :)

Possibly a bit of cw rotation  and a little more detail in the shadow :)

Edit- On second thoughts Susie, ignore that, the detail is great and possibly the shadow emphasises that (y)

The first salt crystal shot gets my vote too Susie (y)
It has lovely colour tones about it, its quite abstract and has a certain otherworldly feel about it.

Good work (y)

... lot going on in that first pic ... colour like living creatures ... and the plastic bottle ...

excellent!

Thanks so much everyone for taking the time to look and to comment :) I have edited some posts slightly to reply, I hope that's okay.

Fits the theme nicely I am going to vote for the first of the of the two of the salt crystals, lovely tones and textures on them.

Thanks Mandy....it's quite amazing what's hidden in a tiny salt crystal.

Glad you liked them Phil....yes I could do with straightening the one up a bit I think.

Thanks Iain ...I do have a leaning towards abstract images  ....I felt they looked as if they were made of ice.

I like the mineral water so my vote goes to #1 well shot (y)

Thanks you Molly ... it was nice to see a vote for that one :)

#3 for me. Nice detail and I quite like the reflection. I think I'd like to see a B&w version.

Cheers.

Hi Andy...I did try a black and white conversion but I just couldn't get the tones right to get enough detail...I may work on that one.

I like the colours and lighting in the first one. Well captured.

Thanks John for calling by and taking a look...I do like that low key effect....it gives a nice soft look.

Thanks d00d...I did like the clarity of that one ...I used the bottle because I wanted to include the word PURE, meaning the water flowing from the rocks and ice ...I didn't think it looked too bad for a roasting tin filled with stones and crushed ice ...taken in my bathroom dark room

Another vote for the first crystal shot. I especially like the block on the RHS

Yes that's like a complete little structure of its own isn't it Peter....and yet so very tiny.

im a bit like you cant decide all great images

Craig

Thanks Craig...much appreciated comment :)

Oooo I like the salt crystals Susie

Tough choice between the two... but I'm going for the first, the detail of the shape you have caught of some of them is fascinating :)

Thanks for looking DK ...yes another week that I have thoroughly enjoyed the topic ... is it Friday yet :D

Some lovely mineral-y shots here, Susie. I do like #1 and those great salt crystals, but the OoF bottle slightly detracts for me. So it's #2 &#3 for me.

Hi Susie, liking the salt crystal pics especially the last one, nice colour in them(y)

Mineral:

Hi Susie, out of all those posted above, Angel wings gets my vote. The controlled DOF,Bokeh bits and composition make this a clear winner! (only small crit though would be to clone out that little horizontal streak bottom right) (y)

the first of the crystal ones is fabulous susie.... the colours and the detail really make it sa stand out shot.

maybe the focal crystal is getting too close to the Right hand edge.

Really really nicely done!

Another for the first crystal shot, good colours and detail.

I love it and I can clearly see why you would call it angel wing.

Thanks for taking another look Mandy :)

Thank you :) I wanted to get the writing on the bottle and the rocks all in focus, but I didn't quite succeed :(

Thanks Jason...yes I noticed that...I am useless as cloning I usually twist someone's arm ask someone nicely, and they do it for me....but I will have a go.

Thanks Graham....I'm glad you liked them....I must admit I post with some fear and trepidation, but the comments are really encouraging.

Another for the first crystal shot, good colours and detail.

Thank you for taking the time to look and comment Kev :) much appreciated.

Am rather liking Angel's wing - love the tone of it - so delicate looking.

Hi Susie

think it's a vote for #2 .....just needs a smidge cw rotation I think ?

Your 3rd shot is lovely though , abstract , warm tones & a definate angel wing...(y)
