Surfshark VPN

Recently my Surfshark VPN stopped connecting on my iPad and iPhone. When I try to connect you can see the WiFi indicator disappear, it then won’t connect. It will attempt several times but always the same outcome. If I cancel the VPN then I get a stable WiFi signal( WiFi through Sky Broadband). Any ideas? I’m on the latest updates for vpn and devices.Cheers.

Sometimes there is a scammer/spammer problem apparently with VPNs and they get blocked. I've had this a few times recently with Surfshark via London IP addtess , but it then works fine via Glasgow, so worth trying. It's better than having spammers on the site, so well worth swapping.

Frequent emails from my "internet security" provider said it was a wise move. I don't use it all the time, especially as it doesn't allow live broadcasts and video content from the BBC.

I mainly use I when I go to buy items etc. I mailed Surfshark who said there is a problem with Sky who make it difficult, they said to disable IPv6 on my router. I do this and try to save it just shuts down and when I go back in the setting to disable aren’t saved.

A VPN, virtual private network, establishes and encrypted "tunnel" from your computer to some "end point" which in this case will be a Surfshark server somewhere which might not even be in the UK. From there any server to which you connect, like this one or the BBC only sees a connection from Surfshark so it hides your IP address but lumps you in with all the spammers and nefarious characters who are also using the same VPN. There are still loads of ways of tracking you, cookies, browser fingerprinting, etc so a VPN stops your ISP tracking you but then ISPs have a lot better things to do than track their paying customers
