Hey guys

Been planning on treating myself to a Sigma 10-20 F/4-5.6 EX DC HSM in the next few weeks for my birthday.

I've just read about the F/3.5 version being released however. Is this likely to be a lot more expensive? A lot better? And also when is it due to be released?

The other option for me was the Tamron AF SP 10-24mm f3.5-4.5 Di II LD Aspherical (IF) I've heard the IQ isn't quite up to that of the current Sigma 10-20 but i do like the idea of having the extended focal length is the quality a big enough difference to warrant losing that little extra focal length?

P.S. I know the SWA thread has been covered thousands of times but i couldn't find the particular answers i was looking for

Could be interesting! Both Tokina and Tamron have faster lens than the older 10-20 now,so I guess this is why.

Will probably double the price!
 
It's going to be the Tamron 10-24 for me then i think. I know Tamron autofocuses are known to be slow, but this is ok as this lens will mainly be used for landscapes and i wont need the fast AF for wildlife, sports or anything like that.

The 'standard' 10-20 is already £550 rrp, can see this one hitting £800 easily. Consider that it will probably be in demand for a while and I can't see it being discounted much.
 
I was lucky enough to get a Siggy 14mm 2.8, sadly discontinued, but a great lens. Of course, I'm on FF so 14 is great, a 2nd hand one may come up, however.
 
I really need to try and keep the budget down to around £450 tops. And i'm using a crop sensor so could really do with the 10mm! :)

Personally I don't care for the tiny difference the slightly larger aperture would make. You would very rarely use a lens like this wide open anyway.

The f/4-5.6 version is already up to £399 in most places, and I wouldn't rule out going further up in price the way things are going. If you can find one cheaper, snap it up now! The new version certainly won't be under £450 anyway. :)

P.S. There is a review on super wide angles in this months' Practical Photography. The 10-20mm came out tops.
 
I like faster lenses purely down to the brighter viewfinders - f/3.5 and f/5.6 is quite a large difference.

Only because they chose not to review the Tokina 11-16 f/2.8.
