Supermoon 19th March

i was hoping for a plane to pass(and still am as i write this) as i live right under heathrow incoming flight path!
 
This is where we are at the moment, this was taken ten mins ago.

Clouded over here :(

The glow did look distinctly large though.
 
Bit disapointed really, as you say the glow looked quite impressive but when it Finally popped over the top it just looked normal. Anyway here's my attempt. :coat::coat::coat:

Was damn hard getting a clear shot due to haze (posted on avfourms too)

Pretty crud (all with D90 and old 70-300 G nikon lens:

Well I had a go at the supermoon as well, seems as though every else is

100-400 handheld, AF, f8 1/200 iso100. Can't see any difference, but it does seem quite bright tonight over a very clear Essex.

The only super thing I could have shot tonight would have been supernoodles....cloud city.

Hey ho.

as for those saying it's a non event etc....well it may have happened thousands upon thousands of times and the moon might have been closer millions of years ago but T Rex didn't have a DSLR and we will only get 3 or 4 goes at snapping this event in a lifetime...so yes it is special....worthy of your time? that's a different question and individual choice.

Well you've no excuse then surely a good silhouette to find, get down low find something a grass stalk, daffodils. tree a building/bridge, water reflection, Light trails, owt just fed up of square sort of close up shots, aren't you bored with them :thinking:

Sorry, didn't realise this was directed at me. :bonk:

It was taken with a Canon 550D, 400mm focal length with f/8 and an exposure time of 1/200. On a tripod, with MLU enabled and a remote to avoid touching it in any way. ;)

Hiya,

Just found this thread and thought I would add one that I took from Pendle Hill. I had been on the hill taking photos of the sunset, and on the way home saw the gorgeous moon, so pulled over and set up the camera for more photos, took quite a few, but couldn't get any close detailed shots because of all the clouds.

But at least it adds something different:

Fab shot :clap::clap::clap: Dawn, (thought you would be out tonight :thumbs:, 1 hundred times better than owt else we've seen, lovely golden glow, love the wispy clouds, and you managed to get some creator shapes you must be congratulated only creative shot of the thread other than Darthchaffinch :thumbs:

Hiya Dave,

Thank you for the kind words and compliments.

I'd got so carried away taking sunset shots, and then trying to round Reuben up who was running around with some youngsters he met on the hill was not an easy task, that I had almost forgot about the moon.

Once I got him in the car I told him we were going to find the moon, and boy was I surprised when I saw it. I had just missed it rising from behind the hills :bang:

There were quite a few people up Pendle taking pics. I think what added to the whole ambiance is the history of the Pendle Witches (although I didn't see any of those).

We were on the hill till after 8pm, and actually I got my first light trails shots too :D (which was quite unplanned). I'll post them to my Flickr once I have sorted through them.

Thanks again for your comments, and btw I have loads more photos of the moon that I have to sort out, but I'm getting a bit tired now, so may have to look at them in the morning.

Thumbs up to those of you who managed to get shots of the moon tonight. I tried and failed miserably, but hey ho, at least I learned some lessons along the way too.
Just have to wait for the next supermoon to come along now . . . . . :shrug:
