Going to try my 18 to 105 kit lens and Cokin filters, for sunsets this week on top of the Lincolnshire wilds, any tips for a first time trip. Exposures etc

I'm no expert but I've always been told to under expose but 1 stop & keep your white balance on daylight.

Depends on what filters.

If graduated, I found out the best way to start is manual mode and expose correctly then slide the filter in. Adjust from there.

If you shoot in raw white balance is unimportant, but in J Peg set it to cloudy.
It warms it all up.
Over expose at one stop and check then work from there.
If you use manual, you will have to check it ALL the time as at sunset the light changes from second to second.
I set mine to aperture and chimp a lot.
