I'm gong to be staying near Coupar Angus over Easter weekend and I'm looking for possible sunrise locations within an hour's drive.
Can anyone advise?

If you can read a map, the Ordnance Survey provides online access to their maps for free (you need to register a free account) using their GetaMap service. Combined with a tool/app like TPE this can really help spot likely locations.

Yes I can read a map :)

What I meant was does anyone with local knowledge have any location ideas?

From Coupar Angus you'll have fantastic access to the hills to the north (through Blairgowrie or Alyth) which offer splendid views east over the Angus glens and the Vale of Strathmore, or you could pick up some coastline anywhere from Dundee round to Montrose. Or nip over the Tay to Fife for some coastal shots. Lovely little coastal villages down there too. If you head west you will reach Dunkeld, again with some high ground on the north side which really open up the view. An hour or less in the car from Coupar Angus will take you to some very nice views.

As DTB says you've got some great locations. A few I'd suggest are Kinnoul Hill just outside Perth, St Andrews, the coastline from Dundee to Montrose as DTB says, I'd especially recommend Dunnottar Castle. http://www.dunnottarcastle.co.uk/

While it might be just beyond your range it should be worth the effort - ruined castle, on a cliff above the North Sea at sunrise... perfect :)

Have a great time while your up here and I hope the weather's as good as it has been this week.
