Don't know if this is the right place to post but I was wondering if anyone was planning to go to the Sunderland Airshow in a couple of weeks time.

Thought I might give it a go with my Sigma 150-600 as I have never shot aircraft or displays before.

Great lens for airshows.

For jets make sure shutter is at least 1/1250, but the higher the better really. For props you need it to be around 1/250 which means you will get a lot of rubbish shots as panning at that speed at 600mm is hard!

Would it be better to over expose slightly to take into account of the bright sky or should I just leave as normal and use spot and group focus

For bright skies I'm normally using plus 2/3 to 1 stop exposure compensation.

Slightly overexpose but then you run the risk of a washed out sky. You can bring a lot of shadows back in LR but will need to increase contrast and saturation
