I am upgrading my PC to speed up photo editing. Will this spec do the job?I don't really want to pay more than £600.

Intel Haswell Quad Core i7 4770 3.4GHz, 16GB RAM, 1TB USB3.0

I have a similar system,it just takes ages to do panoramas etc.It cannot handle some of the larger ones at all.Not enough memory only 3gb ram(32 bit windows)

Save yourself some cash and drop the i7 for an i5 4670k instead

lol that will beast almost anything

remember that you need windows 64bit to take advantage of the memory
also some of the latest PS uses advanced gfx memory. not essential but a basic 3d gfx card is handy for windows anyway

also what monitor are you using? there is no use editing photos on a monitor with more quality colour reproduction (although I do..hope to upgrade next year :))

I am using ACER H223HQ 22" monitor, wasn't planning to upgrade just yet.

When i order the PC i will get a 3d gfx card.

Thanks for the info:)

Thanks for pointing this out,i was trying to cover everything.

Not up to speed on computing, only read up on them every 5 years when it is time to change.

Looks good. Might be worth an SSD in there too if you can for the boot drive.

Look at your disks as well. I separate the raw files, the cache and catalogue files and the program onto separate fast disks, then have additional disks for old raws or exports, plus more for offsite backup. Decent hard drives make a big difference.
