...is it possible?

just blown my monthly treat wodge on a Mac Mini bundle and now looking for a monitor, it will be hooked up to spare tv or if I get a hdmi to vga adapter an older monitor for now... but I want a nice screen for editing and hoping it doesn't have to be super expensive, <£200 would be nice.

any suggestions? quite happy with 1 large or 2 smaller.

Dell U2414H

http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_u2414h.htm

The Dell U2414H comes factory calibrated to some extent, and the box even includes a calibration report from Dell specific to the unit you have. It states that every unit is shipped incorporating a pre-tunedsRGB mode which offers an average DeltaE of <4 and fine-tuned grey scale tracking.

...

This means that even those without a hardware calibration device should be able to obtain a reliable setup, even for semi colour critical work. It's nice to see a decent factory calibration as not everyone has access to calibrate their screen independently.

And if you can stretch to £250, the U2515H is a great value 1440p monitor rather than the 1080p of the 24" :)

I went for a Dell U2412M a few months ago after some recomendations on here, seems a very popular monitor for editing on a budget. It's also 1920 x 1200 resolution. Another benefit is the ability to change from portrait to landscape mode, portrait is handy for reading.

It took me a few weeks to adjust to the screen after coming from a LG 22" screen which was about 8 years old, but now I think I wouldn't go back to a 1080 monitor.

Currently £188.00 on Amazon > http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dell-UltraS...ie=UTF8&qid=1441884703&sr=8-2&keywords=u2414m

after going shop and looking at a few bits and hooking up mac min to tv at home I have come to the conclusion I really do much prefer 4:3 format so I am think 2 x 19" screens are going to suit me over one large 16:9/16:10 one.. although the Dell @Swanseajack links looks a beauty and very similar if not the ones they use in the Lightroom tutorials I watch online but as soon as I sit down in from of a 4:3 I feel comfortable.

You can always format your widescreen monitor so it looks like two 4:3 monitors side by side without the horrible bezels in the way ;) There is no rule that you have to have to open all windows full screen and in 16:9 format.

funny enough last night I robbed my lads 24" Samsung LED for further testing purposes, beautiful it was, Garageband and iMovie was lovely, especially when I am playing keyboard or drums I can be 6-8 ft away from screen... Lightroom was lacking though so I hooked up a measly 17" 4:3(or are they 5:4 I forget "normal ratio monitor" anyway) as a 2nd monitor and jobs a good un.. so although mismatched I am now thinking that might be the way to go.. sadly I had to give my lad his 24" LED back this morning :( not fair :sulk:

I used to have a HP 21" monitor - father in law has it now - and it was super colours and sharpness - seem to remember it was under £200 mark

what he ^ said.

i was always a 2 screen guy but since getting a dell 27 (2560x1440) at work ive never looked back. you can divide the working area into sections however you want.

But you cannot have Lightroom in dual screen mode can you?
You can if you have two screens :)

I do have two screens but rarely actually use Lightroom in such a way. Maybe I should give it a try. What is the benefit?

went for a 2nd hand Eizo Flexscan L887 which was part of Eizo high end editing screens(was a whopping $1440 new), I got it from a Mac refurb eBay shop for £40 delivered, it arrived today and so far I am not disappointed, the weighted swivel, height and orientation stand is amazing.. they have some more and I am very tempted to get another.
