Hi Peeps,

I am flying up to into Manchester tomorrow for a wedding in Preston on saturday. After meeting my GF and the bride to be for lunch I then have the afternoon to kill before my GF's parents turn up in the evening. My GF is the maid of honour so will be off doing the girly bits with the bride so it'll be just me and my camera.

I am staying at the Quality Hotel between Chorley and Croston, its more just outside Croston than Chorley yet its called the Quality Hotel Chorley!

I have no knowlegde at all of the area so do you wonderful peeps have any suggestions where to head? I am thinking that I have a great general practice op here, so not too worried about what ill be shooting if that makes any sense.

Suggestions?

Rob

Head to Manc early doors, and have a wander round the city centre - there's some great buildings to be togged!! :D

Thanks for both suggestions, Ill look them up.

Unfortunately I can't do early doors as I dont land till mid-day but I'll see what I can do!

I have a hire car so travelling a bit is not too much of a problem.

Jodrell Bank is about 5 or 6 miles away

 I know its been a few years since i lived up there, but assuming he means the chorley near Peston, ie, lancashire, I think Jodrell bank is a lot more than 5 or 6 miles away...unless that has moved too

I do mean the Chorley near preston, although the hotel is titled as such, its 5.6 miles out! Its postal address is Croston if that helps.

Thanks LL, I reckon Southport is only half hour away so I think Ill giive that a go.
nice one!

i'll have to change my avatar to something brighter :(

Sorry Animal, I thought I had thanked you too! :bang::bonk:

The reason I decided to give southport a try was because it got two votes.

Thanks

Ill, wang it on the list, Ta!

The weather being bad, could net me a shot for the sites comp this month so not too worried. Ill have my Gortex and (as newlylearned from Kerioak) my freezerbags and lacky bands.

So if anyone spies a lone, soaked togger around the southport area tomorrow looking slightly baffled and lost, chances are it'll be me!!! :cuckoo:

Depends upon the weather and what you want to photograph, but you won't be far (less that an hours drive) from
  • the Trough of Bowland
  • Pendle Hill
  • Crosby (Anthony Gormleys Another Place)
  • Formby (Red squirrels)
  • Blackpool (is the Riverdance still beached at Cleveleys?)
  • The Panopticons
  • Liverpool (City of culture and home to La Machine this weekend)

The Mormon temple is nearby

Beautiful building and well-kept grounds

When I went for a look, I asked if it was okay to take photos. The folks there were more than happy to accomodate me :)

I didn't ask about taking photos of the interior, though :bonk:

Yep, Riverdance is still there, always worth a look in at Blackpool, why not head up to the Lakes, only an hour, come off the M6 at Junc 36 and Lake Windermere is 15 minutes from there !
