Suggestions for a pooch...UPDATE

Welcome to the world of JR ownership! She will amuse, delight, frustrate, embarrass...but most of all, LOVE!!

Which reminds me, I have been planning a very specific JR picture which will represent the dogs perfectly, I must get round to shooting it soon. :naughty:

Jacks are the best. Currently have two and have had three others previously. They are so loving. One thing people haven't mentioned..... Watch your post. My two know exactly when the post is coming, sit under the letterbox and destroy what ever comes through. The postie loves the game lol, but luckly puts the junk mail through first.

Wasn't he a cricketer? IIRC, he mistrusted foreign food so always took a suitcase of beans on tour.
He actually did play with a cricket ball at one time - it was quickly confiscated due to the constant racket of him dropping it on a wooden floor :)

Leftcurl: I'm sure Lucky's previous owner will be delighted to know that she's going to have a good home where where she'll be well looked after.

you have 2 children ..... you have been through the newborn years, where they want feeding every 2 hours, they cry, you cant go Skiing ... you have been through the toddler years where they break everything ..... you are now going trhough the teenage years where they sulk and will hate you.

Trust me ..... a Dog is litterally a walk in the park mate ..... AND when your kids reach 16 and dont care when you walk in the front door .... the dog will still bound up to you, tail wagging and give you a kiss

Lucky joined us yesterday... what a star! No hassle at all.. she played all day in the garden and stuck to my boy Jack like glue. Jessica, his sister is away in Abersoch til tomorrow she'll be jealous when she sees the bond they've made already!

my Jack and Archie (my mate's boy with the huge fro!)

she cried most of the night when we left her to sleep and she'd made a mess of the blinds at the back door by jumping up .. but she was overjoyed to see us this morning and rolled over asking for a tickled tum.

My JR was the same, cried all night long when left alone, I'm not sad to say I gave in before she did and she ended up with the run of the house.

Well done and congrats on getting one of the nicest breeds out there :)

This has been a heart warming thread so pleased you are a "complete" family now:)

Awwww, she's a real cutie

She is a darling  Though I'd fold even before Steep. I'm sure lots of other dog owners here will disagree with me but I'd be totally soft on her right now and only set boundaries later. She's left the old man she lived with, then went to a rescue centre, now has come to you and won't know where she is yet!

... as a relevant aside we're dog-sitting a very calm 11 year old Corgi-cross while her owner goes to Italy. Looking back after eight days, it's obvious how much calmer and happier she's become and how perturbed she was for the first three or four days!

well 3rd night in and the crying has certainly reduced each night. but she wakes up promptly at 6am and wails the house down to get everyone up!
I brought her to my (tile) showroom yesterday and she had a little trot round checking everywhere out, then promptly left a nice pile right in the middle of my walnut travertine display! She was thoroughly embarrassed i could tell. Luckily no customers in at the time! I then took her for a walk around the old garden centre where they keep chickens and hens etc.. it was such a shame to watch her and see that she's had hardly any interaction with the outside world before. She doesn't know how to play ball or frisbee so there's plenty for us to teach her.

When my JR, Bobby, joined us he had no idea how to play. His hunting skills were/are razor sharp!

He now gleefully steals the balls of other dogs (play kind :nono:) this means he gets to be chased, great fun! Frisbees are also fun but he loses all interest once they stop moving.

All dogs loose hair, so try and get one that matches the carpet!

Bichon Frise dont's loose hair either but unlike the miniature schnauzer's they do need grooming.....

Very cute though:

Anyway you'll have lots of fun with a Jack Russell, very intelligent dogs. Unlike the Bichon which is as thick as two short planks

Watch out, it looks like he's reading that last bit!

I think he's responding to your comments in the first picture :p

Leigh, You'll get lots of fun from a Jack Russell. But they are totally bonkers :D
