hi all

new to the forum i have been using my nikon d100 for about two years have been really happy with it however it has now decided to stop working:(. so i have decide to take the opportunity to upgrade and am a little stuck on what to go for i have about 600 to spend lens and body and any accs needed. i dont mind switching brands as i don't have a lot of Nikon gear. i mainly do macro work studio and non studio based of insects, cars etc but also have started doing stock photography and also events that i attend, car shows, motor sport and events like the bristol ballon fiesta and would like to in future start broadening out to landscapes. i have been looking at cannons 500d and nikons 5000d and the 3100d i have already discounted the 1000d due to its simplicity and lack of spot metering (i dont know why they omitted this:cuckoo:) its a feature i use a lot and im not really liking sonys lineup or panasonics (never have liked either of these). i also dont mind getting second hand.

What lenses do you have for the D100? If you can get away with your current lenses and spend that on the body you have more choice. If you were starting from scratch with a Nikon I would suggest a D90 kit but if the kit lens is no better than your current lens there is no point.

cheers all quite like the look of getting a canon 40d second hand and mating it to a reasonable lens. or how are nikon d80s. i will be going into the local london camera exchange to see what they think is wrong with the d100 and have a look to see what they have in and hold a couple of different bodies ( i prefer heavier bodies) since in the past have used cannon 300d, 350d didnt like these was far too light and didnt seem solid enough nikon d40, d70 and my d100- d40 was too light the other two performed perfectly

40D is a very reasonable small body, and I have one in the classifieds

I had many lovely A3 prints made with mine. Good glass is really important with any camera body, so I'd get the best.
