Suggest me a desktop replacement please?

Planning to change my desktop PC with a powerful laptop one. Laptop's screen size being big is irrelevant as I will connect my monitor to it. I am not much into gaming hence a gaming laptop is useless to me. Need something which is quieter and is a workhorse.

new i3 processor, 3Gb memory, 250Gb drive which is not huge but external drives are cheap..

or if you can queeze a little more (sell a child/pet lol)..

i3 again but with more memory, more hard drive, dedicated graphics memory (so no leeching off the main memory)

its worth phoning dell up and you can sometimes haggle around the end of the month (targets to meet etc)

Why not look and see if an ITX or similar machine will do? Usually smaller and quieter but also cheaper.

is it just the noise you want to change or other reason?
if just noise my mini tower is a Medion and there is no noise from it at all. It the quites i have even had some times I think it off..

Space is one good reason apart from the noise. A bit of unclutter and non-bulk would certainly look tidy.

The shorter the better and also more convenient to use. I think that you will have a good range of them to opt from if you increase your budget as little more. This would help you have one that would have some latest features embedded to it and would be more apt for your requirement for a "workhorse".
