Sugar Free

A caveman would not have been able to source many things out of season, like tomatoes in jan!!

you are right cavemen wouldn't be eating tomatoes in January but due to the wonders if international transport we can even if they don't taste as good as ones out of the green house...and they are not full of refined sugar

Is that not just propaganda? Probably a 1 sided argument to suit their agenda. Too much sugar is bad, but in moderation it's all fine.

I dunno. I've heard the same thing on and off from various nutritionist friends for at least the last 10 years. I do think refined sugars are probably far worse for you the saturated fat. I also wonder quite what place sugar has in foods such as bacon really?

I, personally, don't understand why people have sugar in their tea/coffee. It would only take a couple of weeks to adjust your tastebuds to not having it, and you'd get the benefits of less calories, better for your teeth, and its easier for other people to make you a cuppa if you don't have specific requirements :p

I haven't done saturated fats for years...avoid them like the plague.....only ever use olive oil...and even then very little

Saturated fats are much better for you than highly processed oils like veg oil that we've been told to eat for years but that's a whole different story.

As for tea in your sugar. I gave up the tea as well. I now drink red bush which i find much more plesant without sugar. Far less bitter.

For me life is all about pleasure. The idea of not having goose fat rosaties (sat fat), or a homemade fruit crumble or ice cream or Victoria sponge would be awful.

Yes that's very true. I treat it like Alcohol now because i get sugar hangovers if i eat to much. So if i really fancy something on the weekend i will have it. I'm more concerns about the huge amount you can consume daily without knowing it in almost every grocery you can buy.

Agree!

:plusone: for the pleasures! A little of what you fancy does you good - a lot of what you fancy probably doesn't... Currently on a fairly liquid diet, not the usual liquid lunch type for me though; having had 4 teeth pulled yesterday, soup's the easiest nourishment to get down the hatch. Hoping that I'll also be reducing the total intake for a week or 2 to help shed a couple of the almost inevitable xmas pounds.

I don't eat any saturated fats, no sugar, don't use any oils for cooking, all my fish, chicken or turkey is grilled, I don't add salt to anything and certainly no processed foods. I haven't had a sweet tooth in over 25 yrs. Only fat I consume comes from a half a handful of unsalted mixed nuts daily and the fish. Only sugar comes from fruit.

Well as a recently diagnosed Type II diabetic, I've had to cut out the wine gums and haribo's.... TO be honest don't miss them, nor the chocolate and thought whilst at it, may as well cut out the other crap, although the occasional beer and wine.. makes up the BSL's!

I think today is the day that I am told I will hit the wall......it's not the urge to eat sugary food...I think it is the point of where my body is detoxing what is left of the sugar load....... feel quite Crap at the moment..... apparently this is common.....people who stop caffeine have a similar reaction....me thinks I will go into fresh air and cut the bloody brambles that seem to be adamant to take over the garden

There are approx 17g of sugar in a large banana that's about 3 teaspoons I know it's a naturally occurring sugar and therefore not as bad but even these sugars spike my blood glucose levels. There are lots of good components in bananas but for me personally they're far too high in carbs to have as a regular snack.

To avoid high natural sugar content you need them almost unripe....the way I like them......docs recommend unripe bananas to diabetics as a good source treat (according to the local post mistress/shop person. Who has diabetes)
