Yes
I was changing a trailer and scuffed my thumb knuckle on the hitch. I took a chunk out of my knuckle and it bled a little but nothing major.

Now a week or so later I have this stupid lump that is really tender and annoyingly I cant bend my thumb.

Anyone else have anything like this before. I just cant be bothered to go to the docs.

Could be damaged cartilage or even a chip of bone.

If you have managed to break , chip or dislodge something then you need it looked at.. if left could leave you with life long problems..

Iv a list as long as my size 13 feet of things iv managed to damage!! lol..

Tenderness/pain is your body's way of telling you that either:

A) You've done something rather unintelligent

and/or

B) Something's wrong

I know it's not a real good comparison but I was always reluctant to go to the doc until after my Dad left it too late to have his prostate cancer diagnosed. Really made me realise there's nothing clever in saying leave it - it'll sort itself out.
I can think of many things that not being able to bend a thumb would hinder. Go get it seen to - sure it will be a simple solution.

Its just scar tissue, it will go away.

I've always had a SERIOUSLY bad temper. You've no idea how bad.
(It's getting better with age!!!)

Once I lost the plot with my PC, and punched the screen real hard.
My knuckle on my little finger hurt like hell, big time, and even now (this was probably 7-8 years ago) can still give me jib.
There's still a lump there, when I bend my little digit!

(The BBC wanted me to appear on TV about it! A program about computer rage  )

I did the same thing with a wall-light switch once a few years ago - smashed it into the wall-cavity and split open my little finger...it still aches in cold weather...

Since my divorce I discovered that I don't have a bad temper at all, in fact I'm quite calm and placid...

??????????????

I think you'll find it WONT!!! Scar tissue is what it is! it cant change! what it CAN do is shrink, when it does that you could lose range of movement.. or experience tightness where you really don't want it.. My shoulder is riddled with scar tissue! its something im going to battle with every day..

i strongly suggest you get your arse to a doctor, GP or a walkin minor injuries center.

I could be , scar tissue, infection, a break, a chip, ligiment or tendon damage all of which can be permaint or require surgery if left too long honestly mate the sooner the better.

Yep definately scar tissue, I have had em on each knuckle over the years, sometimes two or three on the same knuckle, thats the building game for you, although I would think mechanics get a few when the spanner slips :eek:

i would like to thank you for starting this thread, its seems to have set off some level of self harm within me as i have in the past 4 days....

smashed 1 finger nail at work
smashed another finger nail working on the kitchen
sliced my finger open on a burr on a new stainless steel hob
sliced my finger wide open on a smashed ceramic tile and once this was fixed up i repeatedly reopened the wound whilst doing plumbing, woring and just general cabinet stuff

so thank you for setting off my strange tendancies

ill add another smashed nail to my tally if i can!

i think the slice to my finger is going to need a stitch but ill give it a few days to see if itr starts to heal
