stupidist ad ever

It might be a stupid AD, but it made you and others look at it, so it worked.
Which it was made to do !

I get my Oriental house-girl to do that, to check for dust, fungus, insects etc., with any fleabay lens purchase. She's kept very busy . . .

I know (used to work in advertising...for my sins...) but honestly, I can just imagine one of several people looking at that picture and saying "ooooh, how do I take a picture with that? Like she's doing?" - honestly, I know people that dim...

I know it's not photography related, but you've reminded me of a bloke I used to work with who knew the manager at his local B&Q store. One morning they were both talking, and this guy came up to them with a disposable barbecue that he'd apparently bought the previous day.

He complained because he saw the picture on the front showing sausages, burgers, chops, etc. and these items weren't inside the box as he was expecting. The manager explained that food obviously isn't included with the barbecues, to which the customer apparently replied: "I wish I had known that yesterday, I've got another 2 of them in the freezer!"

That's an old, and apocryphal story :nono:

Hope I didnt upset you, I used to photograph for an Ad agency and the brief was usually to get the punters to look. Didnt matter if the product was any good or not. Sound familiar !

Quite possibly. Most of the guys where I used to work loved joking and winding people up, so any stories you heard you'd tend to take with a pinch of salt. What struck me however, is the fellow who told me this is the one person who doesn't have much of a sense of humour. However, maybe I was a little gullible that day. :D

lens for a camera...it goes on the camera...right? That's how you take photographs, yeh? Or have I been doing it wrong all this time....? :bonk:

Look at the pic on this ad :cuckoo:

Wait... what? There's a lens in that picture?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

And it was said in jest...clearly.

The seller knows how to cater to his/her target demographic, or atleast think they do.

If I saw the image in the middle of a list I'm not sure if I'd click that one first. I'm looking for a lens, not a Thai bride.
