Does the length of the exposure influence the grain in any way?

For instance long exposure making grain finer/coarser?
 
Long exposure can increase noise slightly (hence the "long enclosure noise reduction" setting on most cameras).

Obviously using a longer exposure and a low ISO is always going to beat a short exposure with a high ISO though.
 
I wouldn't have thought it would make any difference tbh - but I'm happy to be corrected.

Anything over a few seconds then I would always double the exposure time - that was on expired Agfa! I've only shot one star trail on Portra 400 and doubling didn't seem to be enough - I was going to go to 3x but I've not tried it again yet.

** I am talking really long exposures here though not just blue hour/traffic trails type images - Star trails I'm usually at 20 minutes minimum & I have taken 40 minute exposure before.
 
in general no. The most likely cause is going to be pushing the exposure to stretch the ASA value of the film stock. Likewise underexposing & pulling back in development (pretty much the same thing as stretching the ASA value) will cause grain.

However, with long exposures of 1 sec +, see the answers above.
