Ok, I'm a bit of a dolt... but please bear with me and allow me to ask a stupid question.
I can't release the shutter!
Right, I'm using an RB67 Pro (not a Pro S or a Pro SD or anything...) - at least I would be, if only I could get past this fairly fundamental user error
1. Film is loaded (although I never encountered any "stops" or resistance as I was winding the film on. I followed some online youtube video and I'm pretty happy I've done it properly, but the video (which admittedly was for a Pro S) suggested aftering winding to 1 I'd not be able to wind further... well, I can and I've now wound it to 3.
2. Lens is cocked (if that's the right word): I pushed the pins round to the red dots and it opened the lens shutter and popped back to the green dots.
3. Is lens locked on sufficiently? I don't know. When the lens isn't attached to the camera, I can rotate the lens locking ring (the red dot which lines up with the red arrow before mounting) all the way just past the N/M circular "switch". When I mount the lens, I turn the same ring round but it gets really tough and I can quite get the red dot past the "M" let alone past the circular "switch" thingie
4. Shutter release lock is rotated to the white dot, but the whole mechanism is quite stiff (could barely move it between white dot and orange dot at first) and also the entire locking "nut" pulls out slightly - not sure if this is supposed to happen?
5. Cannot cock shutter on camera (the lever on the side of the body)... it just doesn't move
6. Cannot release shutter (i.e. by pressing the shutter release button)... it doesn't budge a millimetre
7. None of this appears to be affected by removing the dark slide or leaving it in (or just pulling out a few mm until the triangle is exposed)
8. Rather disconcertingly, I can take the roll film holder off and remove the dark slide. Well, I only pull it a few mm but it would come out all the way... is this indicative of a problem or the film not being loaded correctly?
9. The film counter per above is now showing 3 but the white/red dot is showing white
10. Other things: I can rotate the back fine and I can take everything off the camera body itself: viewfinder, focus screen, lens, rotating adaptor, film back etc.
I'm certain I'm doing something stupid and wrong... but even after reading the manual (an online pdf version) and watching a few youtube vids, I don't know what it is!
Can anyone with experience/knowledge of this ancient beast help?
Thanks in advance
