Stupid Question?

I'm shopping around for a wide angle lens and stumbled across a 2x telephoto lens and a 0.5x wide angle lens that is pretty cheap. I feel a bit like its a purchase I'm going to be delighted with or really regret.

Am I right in thinking that this is too good to be true? What's the downside?

You say cheap, if you mean dirt cheap it will be a bit of fun to try them out.
Downside will be quality of pics from cheapo glass.
If the money wanted is a bit more,you should save it towards a decent lens.

I bought a lot of cheapo glass when I started and it now sits in a box in the loft.

Thanks for the advice, will put my money towards a wide angle - might see if I can find a 2nd hand set on ebay to play with.
