Stupid Marketing Calls

Grrrr sick of some stupid call centre in India calling me to tell me that my PC is "transmitting" errors to them and that they want to sell me software to sort this, do they really think people are so stupid to think that some offshore call centre knows my PC has a virus............. anyone else get these stupid calls?

yup, big scam thread in OOF and i think joe did some recordings of winding them up.

i havent managed to speak to one yet unfortunately, i want to play..

indeed, the other halfs mum let them log into her machine. luckily she didnt give them any personal details.

the elderly in particularly and people that are non-technical will fall for it.

Just tell them you are going to switch on your PC now and leave them on the phone ad infinitum. Will at least stop them making a few calls to other people why they wait.

I like playing along with them and then after several minutes tell them I have a Mac.

strange thing is they they all have Asian accents but their names always seem to be Jason, James, Robert Jennifer I even had one called Angus.
The minute you talk in your local accent their lost and hang up.
