I am really, really, really, really, really, really, irritated by the points and trophy system
in practice here. Does it have to be? Can one choose to be excluded?

You haven't read the rules, questioning the system will deduct half your points :p

But the choice is yours, you don't have be irritated by it, that is totally optional.

You can't so just ignore it. But don't forget points are prices.
 
you can't opt out.. it was put there to make you suffer and be irritated ;)

seriously though it calms down, it's because you are new so you get these things at certain milestones, but it stops very quickly then you are left sad and forgotten about :P

But those are the overpriced VWs. I would far rather have my Grandfather's or Mr Barnato's Speed6.

For nostalgia I'm with you, to drive I'm not. The same with a lot of older cars, in our memories they are great, in reality compared to what we have today they are s***.

A mate had one until it folded in half under acceleration - rotten chassis + loads of BHP does weird things to rusty steel!

JP, I'd still rather have a Speed6 than a modern one - not that I'd turn a modern down as a gift, just that the real ones are something special whereas the moderns are (to quote yourself) "very common"!

Indeed, have both....The modern one for every day, and the Speed6 for the special occassions

They weren't that bad to drive, and reasonably comfy, and no damn computer to go wrong :p

All VW's are overpriced. Just some more so than others. ;)

1st world problems. The trophies & points aren't exactly hard to ignore if you're not interested
 
Didnt martyn K try this last year - with usernames and wound up with a custom username saying 'opting out' ? :LOL:
