Studley Royal deer park. On the website it says open 10am but I see old posts on here when I search people saying they went very early... I was hoping to go next week for first light.. Is that possible ?
 
Yes. There are gates that are open. Navigate via Studley Roger village ///scan.explains.diets

The car park at ///quits.balanced.retaliate is £10. The cafe opens at 10:00.
 
If your there very early, you will be able to park in Studley Roger village at the end of the road opposite the archway and the long driveway. Go through the archway, you are in then in the park, wander where you want. You could see the deer anywhere on the left or right.

Cheers never been before so no idea where anything is.. archway or anything.. will google map it :) Going next week .. First light is about 6.30 i think and its a 90 min drive so 5am start... Hope its worth it.. never photogrpahed them before
 
It's normally worth it... with Red, Fallow and Sika Deer, all present and knocking about. Just need to find them. might need to walk a good bit.
If you want to park nearer in the middle of the park looking down to the small lake and the cafe to the right, and pay the parking fee, the road through the Arch opens at 7am.
Park in the small area opposite the arch way and walk in... Its free, and very little these days is free. LOL
 
Setting off 5.30 am in morning... should get there first light 7am .... I have my 300mm for misty not too light and a TC 1.4 420mm for when its proper light . looking for atmospheric rather than close up. hope thats enough
 
It's enough..... if steady you can get pretty close, There used to people..ish.... Hope you do well, it's a beautiful place. if your early you should hear them roaring.
 
Had a great morning... Not sure what makes a good deer pic as never done this before but i am happy wiht what I got...Didn't get the atmospheric steam out of nostrils type shot but came away pleased.. first few with 300 but as the light came good stuck the 1.4TC on (I miss my 400 :( )
