What would you do and why..

i have stripped my garage down ready to be redone..

now i would like to make this a tp project.:thumbs:

i have a 18' x 8' by 8' area there is already a raised floor in there 8" high by 8' by 12 .

now i painted it out white whaen i 1st did it thinkning this would be a good idea :nuts:

ok so that was wrong.

what would you do with this area and why..

i will upload some pictures tommorrow and keep it updated as a ongoing project...

i look forward to any views on this and reasons why.

hopefully alot of people will learn alot from this and help others if they decide to try the same....

Cracking idea MD and very generous to let us loose in your garage (Are you still sure it's a good idea? lol)

I think my first job would be to mount some brackets on the wall for hanging backgrounds. When I say backgrounds I don't just mean paper rolls or muslin either but sheet plastic, old corrugated iron.......anything you fancy as a background so make them as strong as you can get!

see already i had not thought of that side of photos..

so yes make sure i can convert easy enough..

most of the shots would be studio style :naughty: ... but i am hoping to venture into other style's..

Don't use a lump /club hammer to do any nailing of fixings, look what they can do to your thumb and eye :thumbs:
 
Interesting thread, I'm contemplating sorting my garage soon. It's about 1 1/2 cars long, and has a pit too, so it would be ideal, although it could do with a bit of additional height.

I was going to paint mine matt grey, as I don't want to do it black.

white was wrong not white enough and the light ...:nuts: i could not control it . it bounced everywhere..

What i would do is.....
on the rear wall, make an infinity curve using shaped battening covered with bendy MDF, its such a simple thing to do. Then paint it approx 18% grey, get B&Q to do a mix for you. This way you can have white, black or even use the lights to make it coloured.
I look foward to seeing the results as they happen.

Black out the windows! But make the fitting removeable because you can use that window light. Make a screen with some white muslin on it and voila..... instant softbox with natural light. :)
 
Love this idea mate iv been considering doing my garage for a while. only prob for me is that mine isnt attached to my house and is at the end of the road so no electric for lights or heat. I could always use strobes but what about heat!!! lol

OK, pardon the techno-phobe in me making an appearance, but how the hell does an infinity curve work then? :thinking:

I thought about that too.... My idea is to have a couple of large pieces of hardboard, one plain white to look like a whitewashed wall, the other will be painted in a brick red base coat, and I'll get my son to practice his graffiti on it, giving me an "urban" background too.

I like those lights up in the corners to light the background.....

Basically,Yv, its just a permanent version of the curve that is created when you use a background cloth, so that you cant see the join between the floor and the background. It is much better than a cloth background in that it is the same all the time.

some good ideas already guys ..

not sure if anyone saw but there is a super sur gas heater in the corner which i turn on a hour before people turn up and man does it get hot in there...:nuts:

window is normally covered like i say i have stripped it down for painting and a few changes..

anyone like the raised floor it lets me get level with the subjects..

my sig shot is of the subjects / subject lying forward elbows out i always try to get this and it is nearly always picked...:naughty:

that's in the front garage i split it into two with a wood frame and ply...

so behind the b/g wall there is the front garage about 13and a half foot...:D

no mate the cuboards are full of cables wire's spare flash's modeling lamps and the such..


i'm seriously thinking about sticking a rail up to go all around the bottom wall :thinking:

thus i can put a black sheet of some sort on and do black b/g aswell as white..

for starters anyway..

i am open to alladvice on this project and some off your good self would be very well recived..

i am going for a nice tidy looking room but that is very versatile...


i am not yet going for the soft music white leather sofa and cappucino machine.......


also we would love to have you and yours down this way mate...

i could possibly make it worth your while :naughty:

Okies - £3,000 for the day and I'll sup your southern/west beer :lol:

Early Jan is a good time for me to do something different - perhaps a spot of 'darn your way' could be good too

Let's hook up in early Jan to check diaries (gosh we're so hip :lol:)
