i just bought a building that i was going to rent . but i like a studio . but them i don,t get any rent .so i thinking of doing a studio share . let say we get 6 people sharing the studio on a month rent of £66 month each . the building well make great studio one very large room bottom floor with great light . 3 rooms on top floor bathroom + 2 room . that would give each person 120 hour of studio time a month . . in nottinghamshire eastwood . Does any body think this idea would work . all is it just bad idea , please let me no want you all think it good idea all bad
Plus any in Nottingham would like to this please let no , I also would not mind club member sharing as well so a club could use this as a meeting place as well . If any of your members like this idea please let me no

This would be good but can you move it to Manchester.

I think your maths is flawed if I am being honest.

Realistically people will want to use the studio at key times, fewer people will want to use the studio at off-peak times (e.g 2am). For people looking to studio share, most of them will want to use the studio in the evenings and at weekends - so realistically your peak times are 7-10pm weekdays and 9am to 9pm weekends. This is 39 hours a week, or around 120 hours per month - between six people - still a decent deal - but not as good as you thought.

Of course there will be people outside of these hours too undoubtedly.

In my experience studio shares are all well and good, until the dynamic changes (which it will) - then all of a sudden you have five people all responsible for paying the £400pm, which may make one or two of them reconsider their stake...and then you have a couple of people each paying, say, £200 pm... and there ends your studio share and the person whose name is on the lease is lumbered with a £400pm bill for a studio that they can really only use for ten hours a week.

You have some decent studios for hire in your area - try striking up a deal with them which gives you protection and probably a far better studio to boot.

I've been considering options for this recently . I can see it been a problem if everyone wants to use it at the same time . Other things to consider are who buys the equipment , insurance and rates if it's going to be used for business purposes as well as service bills . I'm sure that would work out at more than £66 pcm .

Mmmm., this is somethiong i have thought about in this area.

1st you need multi studio space with facilities. changing rooms and bathroom, kitchen etc.

You need a mixture of togs. A couple of portrait dudes for family stuff and a tog that does pack shots and B2B work which will fill the day slots.

Also post work and viewing sections. These can also be offices tio let out to graphic designers etc.

All these can help and work off each other. One that works well down in Exeter has all the above and a Mini lab shop in as well. So all printing and finishing gets put through him... all works well in one building.

One studio is not enough. My plan is to let the top floor as togs offices as well so the togs have a professional address.

you have to maximise space and have it working 14hrs a day 7 days a week.

With the pp rooms togs can do training courses in Photoshop, beginner courses in photography to hobbists and local folk. Loads can be gained from this.

This, definitely.

I like to think that I'd be interested, but it's a bit far for me without a car and I'd doubt I'd really have enough of a use for it to justify another monthly bill.
