Was shooting portraits this week. High key, white background. Used my normal setup (for white) i.e. large softbox key, reflector fill and two heads to illuminate the background - actually one head for the background (second one order :)) Come on Garry - I need it for tomorrow ;)

Now this setup works fine, but I was just wondering if anyone would use something different.

One of the reasons I ask is linked to flexibility. My setup was aimed at kids portraits (open session). Of course, being an open session it wasn't long before a group of 8 people turned up for..... a group shot. I jigged the setup a little and it worked okish. So, is there an alternative arrangement that I could have used?

Thoughts?

Seamless I shoot with one bigass umbrella or octobox, 2 rear lights through reflectors and barn doors to flag (will replace with silver umbrellas soon, works better but takes up more room), and throw in other lights as appropriate for hair / fill.

moving away from white seamless for everything other than events or where they really, really want it though...

for studio massive brolly high slightly to the side, twin softboxes for rim/seperation unlit white
tends to be grey, can be black or spin round the softboxes for white 3/4 (unlit floor)

for location its generally ezybox in close for power + drama
