Okay, this may sound a bit pervy - but I am genuinely interested in studio photography; particulary glamour, (not necessarily nude).

I am a novice so am interested in getting experience with the lighting aspects and the backgrounds etc...

Are there any studios or clubs in the North West, (UK), that will provide me with a studio with lighting, setup, etc... and a model to practice on.

I can't afford too much - but I assume it is going to be expensive to hire this type of setup.

I've been told that there are some amateur models out there who have there own make-shift studios with lighting etc...

Any idea how much I would be expected to pay - both professional and amateur studio.

My aim is to take photos of custom motorcycles and cars with models attached !!!

Advice appreciated.
 
This would be primarily for a Custom Motorcycle Club calendar. The club I belong to was aiming to use our own bikes - but have a model posing on them, (to sell to club members for charity). I guess I would need a model/studio release form if we were to use professionals ?

As mentioned, I need to get some experience as my attempts may look awkward. I guess the same angle of picture with the same model pose would look boring - even if the bikes were different. Any advice appreciated.

It's North-West of Stockport, Manchester.

Pretty big studio with plenty of softboxes all for £25 per hour.

I think you can hire models aswel, they have a few portfolios on the site.

When I put the suggestion forward, (to have our bikes photographed with a model), the instant reaction was - "you just want to look at the girl". Not the case anyway - I'd rather look at the lovely chrome on a Harley Davidson anyday !!!

Anyway - I think I've "bitten off more than I can chew" as there's too much interest and I'm not experienced enough to photograph models in a studio, (plus studio needs access for motorcycles). I thought the idea was good though !!!

Do you really need to do this in a studio anyway. I'd have thought that working outside would add variety to the shots and make it easier to get 12 (or 13 as is often the need for a calendar) that have interest.

Plus being outside means that things might get more imaginative than model, top off or teeny bikini on top of bike.
 
You could even go without models and have the owners (in bike leathers, not bikinis ;)) pose with their bikes, or just have the bikes.

I don't think you'll have too much of a problem shooting them outside if you find some interesting locations and just take your time over the photographs, make sure the background isn't too busy etc.

For the record, I don't think that looking at girls is pervy. Girls are all lovely, wonderful and mesmerising to look at. Leering at girls IS pervy.

Thank goodness for that!!!!! Looking at girls isn't pervy!

I'm so glad 'cos I like to look at them.

Let's have a big cheer for girls everywhere! :clap: Bless 'em. :lol:
 
If you are looking to do some in the studio I'm more than willing to help. I live about 100 yards from Infocus Studios in Marple. I've also been a biker for years so I know my way around a bike too. You could get bikes in there no problem as there is a roller shutter door. I've used the studio there before for model shoots and I could even ask my fave model to come along. (small charge for her, I'm free!)

Hi. I run Metropolis studios in Liverpool and we have an offer on for evening bookings. Its £50 for 4 hours. You can check us out on www.metropolis-studio.com. I can recomend some good models too.
