I have been thinking about it for a couple of days now and am still stuck for what I actually want to achieve and where I want to go with it. Frustrated. :bang:

Then go with your gut feeling and if that doesn't work, do something different! :)

People is what I want to shoot and I'm guessing as you said you didn't read the replies, you haven't read some of mine that outline more of what I am trying to do?

I am doing now. I wasn't being ignorant.... I just didn't have much time earlier.

A of what I said still stands really. Simple lighting at home. People's suggestions of speedlights at home is a good one, and you'll probably stand a much higher chance of enlisting friends and family as models to practice with.

Gaz,

My 2 cent. Get some speedlights or small flash units and just practice at home. Don't waste money on studio days just yet, nobody is perfect, and being perfect is boring!

I have one speedlight Matt. What I will practice on though I am not entirely sure. All this practice is good for sure, but I will have to play a game eventually (to use a sport analogy) and be prepared to lose :(

I wasn't suggesting you were being ignorant by the way (just incase it came across that way) :)

Thanks for the advices.

Anything you like. As others have said though... yourself would be ok... probably the most compliant model you'll ever work with :)

Thanks for the last few replies. I have a few ideas that I want to shoot. I guess I just need to jump in now with both feet, especially with the way things are going at the moment. I need to be prepared to fail and not get disheartened. Thanks for the advices peeps. :)

i bought a polystyrene mannequin head off ebay for practising on and it works quite well :)
