Studio on a budget

Check the lighting threads, this has been covered a few times recently. Personally, I'd avoid Ebay for lights purely because I feel it's too fragile an item to worry about warranty issues with. Just my opinion though but I'd rather spend an extra few quid and have piece of mind.

Yeah I'll have a good look through the threads. I do agree with you about Ebay and the whole warranty thing. That Jessops kit above looks interesting though.

Thanks

Thats not really what I was looking for as I have no room for it and its most probably going to rain for the next six months, but thanks anyway.

lol I think it was a p**s take! ;)

The Interfit kit isn't too bad. I have some kicking around here and it seems to put up with a fair amount of chucking in the back of a car and asssembling at my destination. For the money it is a start and you can always add to / replace it when the need and finances allow.

Neil where are you based?

The first kit, the background isn't too bad but the lights seem underpowered. Also, the backgrounds themselves aren't very big. If you wanted a test kit to see if you liked it then it would do the job but you'd soon find it limiting and spending more on upgrading.

The second, the lights seem powerful enough and look like having a decent controls.

Ideally, depending on where you are, you may find a TP member willing to let you play with their kit :)

Ideally, look at Lencarta lights and backgrounds. Probably looking at £500 but that is a decent 2 light set up and background, one that also has good resale value IF you decide you don't like it.
