studio lighting set up

What do you want to do with them?

I'm Hoping to use use them for portraits along with my lencarta smart flash

They're rubbish for portraits (not enough power).
The colour will never balance with flash.

If you already have a smartflash, another one is cheap (and 2 heads are useful enough), if you have 2, why would you need a further 3 (crap) lights? Even in a studio with 20 heads to play with; One light is doing 90% of the work, the rest are problem solving and adding points of interest. A speedlight will work as a perfectly good hairlight, kicker or spot for the background.

What problems are you trying to solve by buying this gear? Why not buy more flash gear?

Thanks Phil, the only problem I have is a friend and me did a photo shoot for the local councillors for a members page and he had 2 led lights which we used in conjunction with my smart flash so we didn't have to constantly use flash and he owns those and I was looking for an alternative although I do own a 430ex11 but we were trying to avoid constant flash

As there were two of us we decided rather than blast away with flashes all the time if we set up lighting bright enough so that we wouldn`t need flash, plus i`m not very good with a flash, but i`d be interested in your opinion either way Phil

Flash in a studio setting isn't at all intrusive, people expect it to happen.

Whereas continuous lighting that's bright enough for portraiture is uncomfortable to sit with. (For instance, customers comment on the brightness of modelling lights, and they're nowhere near bright enough to shoot people with).

That was the reason for my question, I think you've gone off on a tangent (maybe thinking it's the easy option) when flash is the best tool for the job, and easy to use when you have the confidence.

I think you about me thinking constant lighting an easy option and I need to look into upping my flash experience I appreciate you taking the time to help
Harvey
