If you could have any studio lighting kit you wanted, regardless of cost (within reason) what would you go for?

The reason I ask, is one of our Multiblitz 2400 powerpacks has popped for the second time (out of warranty). We have another multiblitz 2400 pack, which with the broken one fed 2x striplights. The rest of our lighting kit is pretty old Broncolour lights and packs. They have done us proud (Must be from the 80's) but I think it is time to look at replacing them. We are having the idea of possibly cutting our losses with the Multiblitz pack, and not replacing it, but instead bring in all new kit (We have a lot of specialist lights, such as striplights, spots etc whereas we could do with more general lights and softboxes etc). Also the problem with having both Broncolour and Multiblitz stuff is that the connectors will physically fit each other, but have different wiring, so can damage the lights and packs if plugged into each other. So what say ye old wise lighting wizards?

If money isn't a consideration I would go for Broncolor as my first choice, Profoto as my second. Nothing else comes anywhere near in terms of colour temperature and power output consistency or build quality, although of course for most people neither are within budget or even needed.

Further down the choice list I would go for Speedtron (Blackline), Hensel and then Bowens.

It's a shame strobe still aren't going, their 10k packs and strobe location packs were the dogs danglies, I'm probably with Garry on this Bron, profoto and then probably Bowens as I don't like elinchrom stuff

Same here! My gosh, agreement!!

I'd love profoto but no way the bank manager is going to agree to that!

It would be worth reviewing what kind of fitting you have on your existing light modifiers. All those extra softboxes/snoots/beauty dishes etc can soon mount up in terms of pennies.

Thanks guys. Have Broncolor still got the same connections/mounts etc as they did in the 80's? If so, then that would make life quite a bit easier as we could keep out lights and modifiers and just get new packs for now.

Has anyone used the Bron Scoro range of packs? They look ideal, if not a little (read a lot) expensive. Having complete asymmetrical power output over all the heads would be great though. Our current packs are symmetrical/relative over 4 channels which I find annoying. Also the packs show solid feet, can you swap the feet over for casters?
