Studio lighting day sponsored by Lencarta

Hi Jonathan,

Still no sign of my 50% back for the 20th March booking. Can you look into it please?
Steve,

Jonathan told me about it and it's been refunded.
But it can take a while to appear on your account, banks like to take money off immediately but aren't quite as quick to put it back. If I was the cynical type I might think it had something to do with interest...

Unfortunately 2 people have had to drop out of the Art Nude lighting workshop, to be held on Sunday 10th April in Bradford.

Short notice I know, but if these places are taken up with new people we'll have our full complement of 8 and I'll be able to refund the people who had to drop out...

Man, I wish I live near Bradford! Any London workshops that offer this type of deal does anyone know of?

Well, we've had plenty of people from London (and further) here, but if you want one closer Jonathan Ryan is running one this Sunday too, his one is in Maidstone.

He isn't posting anything on TP any more, he's had enough of being attacked by certain people, but I'm sure he will welcome anyone who wants to join his lighting workshop

That very sad that he's decided to do that, I hope it's not because I asked him not to post about the workshops!

As I understand it, he had pretty well decided that he didn't need the hassle of people attacking him on the forum and (completely falsely) accusing him of advertising for Lencarta, then your very clear request not to make that type of post added to his reasons not to continue.

My suggestion to him to NOT post such threads was to help stop the snide remarks that he was getting, so we lost 2 solid contributers to this part of forum - great.

leaving aside the arguing - which as a new member i'm not even going to venture an opinion on (beyond saying that its not what I expected to find on TP), is there a weblink to a list of these courses ?

Ive looked on the lencarta website and see lots of tutorials but no courses - unless i'm being thick which is easily possible.

I know nutttthhhin about studio lighting, but at £30 i'd jump at a chance to learn - the last photo course I did cost five times that much.

Pete,

You have a choice of Maidstone Kent or Bradford W. Yorks - nothing closer to you I'm afraid.
They cost £60 not £30 but you can get £30 back if you spend money on equipment with Lencarta. I'm told though that the price will go up quite a lot for courses after the May ones.

They are on the website here under products>training courses

nice - the inlaws live in lancashire so i might be able to make a bradford one work - it wont be before May tho, and maybe not this year at all as ive just started a new job and the pressure is on at the moment.

TBH I dont mind paying for decent training - the last course I did was a wildlife photography workshop with Andy Rouse and that was £150 notes.

After much deliberation I've taken the plunge and signed up for the course on the 29th May in Maidstone.

Hi Garry
I have just recently bought myself some real entry level lighting equipment and am interested in doing this course in Maidsone at the end of the month.
I have two questions;
1) Are there still places available?
2) Can you give me a betteridea of what the course structure will be? It's not explained fully on the website and I'd like to see if this is going to be appropriate to my level. I know it says 'suitable for photographers of all levels' but I want to make sure that a lighting new-guy like me will be suited...

Cheers!

Im going to Maidstone on the 29th and haven't had any exposure to studio lighting before, so you wont be alone.

Spencer,

Yes, there is still at least 1 place available at the moment, be aware that the prices for all future lighting workshops will be higher so I don't expect that place to be available for much longer...

There isn't really a structure to the day as such, Jonathan is hosting it and, like me, he tends to make it up as he goes along or, as a salesman might put it, "each course is tailored to the individual needs of each participant and progresses in line with blah blah blah":)

I've spoken with Jonathan about the people who go on his training days several times. Like me, he gets a complete mixture of people, and some of them have never even seen a studio light before. Don't worry about it!

I've only ever worked with speedlites before so studio lighting is new to me and I'll be there.

Curses! My wife is trying to get me to go on holiday so we'd be away on that day so I cannot commit yet. Will be convincing her of a dates change this evening hopefully...

Well, it's slightly academic as that lighting workshop is now full, but there are others.

Very unusually, there are still places available on the one in Bradford on Sunday if anyone wants it...

And if anyone thought "maybe" and then didn't, get on the next one! Can't say enough about how much I got out of today's session - thanks Garry & Cassie.

Still got a slight head-spinning sensation after today - loads of knowledge imparted and I just need to crack on and put things into practice a little more often!

The website doesnt seem to be loading as its "transferring servers"

anyone got a date for the next Bradford one?

Yes, the website is down at the moment, hope it will be working again later today. The next Bradford one will be Sunday 12th June, so not much time left to book.

Im looking to book on the next course at bradford, just waiting for website to get back up :)

After the course I will be placing order for eqipment. Would I still get 50% back on course after Gary?

You don't get 50% back, you get £30 back if you spend £300 or more within 3 months either side of the course

Well, the website is now back up and the next course is on Sunday if you still want to book it...

We have some unexpected space for the Lencarta lighting course on Sunday at Bradford if anyone would like it...

Of course, it means putting up with me for a whole day so maybe not:)

On a job this Sunday but planning on booking the last Bradford one of the year back end of November - is there time enough to look at the product range on the day?

How many places do you have left Gary and what is the cost please ?

I'm not sure, as a couple of people have had to pull out (have moved them to the next one) and someone else says that he may not be able to make it, trying to change his work shift...
But there are at least 2 places available.

There's plenty of time, but it's my studio not a showroom, and although there's a lot of stuff here, I haven't got the whole range.
