Studio lighting day sponsored by Lencarta

I used the Vic Reeves method.
Ah, now I understand. But I think you'll find that the Vic Reeves method is now out of date and has lost a lot of its credibility.

The new standard, which was introduced by a Mr. Blair and which was later perfected by his successor Mr. Cameron, has raised the threshold from 96.2% to 99.8777(r)%

I have the final course on Sunday, product photography. Looking forward to it :)

I won a small prize yesterday - the most boring subject in the world but hey, I won it so it will be your job to photograph it and make it look exciting:)

So it probably isn't a good idea to look forward to Sunday...

Yeah. Looking like 26.4% was a massive underestimate. We have a very pretty lady. And a couple of fiendish challenges. And a swimming pool.

You're comparing apples to oranges Jonathan, my one on Sunday is on product photography:lol:

plenty of people around that could show you if you covered the cost of the studio and model.

Garry is there no plans to have one further up.. like Edinburgh or Glasgow everybody seems to forget about us up here :help: I would certainly do the 3 hour trip I am from Aberdeen and I am sure there are many more of us that would be interested..

Hmm. Scotland you say.

Well, by a curious coincidence I'm supposed to be shooting a collection for a client early next year at St Andrews. (Or Gleneagles - something with golf in it).

Would be fun to stay another day. Plus it's pretty likely to rain at some point.

Maybe I should mention it to Mr Big.

Fingers crossed we dont get the snow that is supposed to appear :(

Snow is forecast for Thursday night and Friday down in my area - I'll be coming along no matter what the weather is though!

I am going too, although it's my first course.

I am very new to photography, so will probably be clueless compared to most people there.

COUNT ME IN IF YOU EVER RUN A COURSE IN SCOTLAND...!!!

Based in Glasgow...but wouldnt mind travellin a bit...

STEVIER

Oh, apparently there's just one place left on the Maidstone course on Sunday.

Obviously we won't be doing anything like this. Honest.

I'm glad about that Jonathon, as that would have put me off coming to the next one, couldn't make this weekends one due to other commitments :(

Is there anyone from this forum going to the Sunday course??

OTHER than you Johnathan!.. :p

Again yes. But I'll let them declare themselves. They may be shy ;) For a hint look at post 152.

Tony, if you mean the one in Maidstone, I'm going.

I'll be staying locally on Saturday evening with family and picking my lighting equipment back off my Brother-in-Law at the same time.

Steve

I cant decide if i want/need to go!.. decisions...

Well, if it's the Maidstone one you're interested in there's just one place...
If it's the Bradford one you're interested in then you don't have to make a decision because it's been full for a long time;)

What's the weather like in Bradford Garry? I hope it's not snowing!

Perfectly OK:) At the moment:'(
Don't worry about it, I'm sure that my 4x4 will get me here on Sunday morning:lol:

Hopefully not but at what point might it be postponed?

Shouldn't have problems getting across moors in my 4x4 unless they shut the roads....again!!

It's the M62 nearly all the way for me. So shouldn't be too much of a problem, but you never know.

Good point as I'm traveling from Cheltenham early Sunday morning so fingers crossed the weather folk have over blown the situation and roads will be fine!

its snowing like a very snowy thing in Mansfield.
Looks like Tina, the wife isnt going to risk driving up there this Sunday.
She doesnt wanna risk some dopey git modifying her car.
She will be up for the next one though.
Well, that's a pity - does she happen to know a lorry driver who could drive her:)
Unless there's a really heavy fall of snow I doubt whether there will be any kind of problem on the motorways/main roads, and even the bus route outside my studio is perfectly OK at the mo.

It's by no means certain that there will actually be another one on product photography, it's a bit of a specialist subject and I'm not sure that there's enough demand for another one. I sort of fitted this one in as an extra, at the end of this year's programme of lighting workshops.

That would be a shame, if there was another one I would be interested providing, a) it wasn't in the winter, and b) I had enough notice to make the arrangements.

how much is the product photography course
All of the lighting workshops are the same price, £60 including VAT, with a £30 rebate for people who spend at least £300 on equipment within 3 months either side of the lighting workshop.

Obviously, this doesn't cover actual costs, it's a service to help photographers learn more about lighting

For some of us it's an essential service! :)

No snow here in Kent ;)

Batteries are on charge. As soon as I finish my coffee and backup the day's shoot I'll be loading for tomorrow.

See you in the morning.

Jonathan's talking about his Lencarta Lighting Workshop in Maidstone tomorrow - just a boring day with a beautiful model in a nice hotel:)
Mine's the exciting one in my studio in Bradford with still life subjects, where you have to make your own coffee - don't go to the wrong one:lol:
