hi I am thinking of getting some studio kit lights, back drop ect, what do you guys sugest??? dont want to spend a fortune but dont want to buy twice!!

Plenty of praise from the Elinchrom Dlite 2 and 4 kits. Many seem pleased with the Interfit 150 and 200 kits as well.

Yes, lots of praise on the D-Lite's, as well as Interfit's range, which in my choice the Stellar group is good for the money, as the units can take a large variety of accessories for Interfit AND Bowens (same fitting) which is so handy dandy. Both good value, but for the use of many great accessories, (i.e. large choice of softboxes, reflectors, etc.) I'd go for the Stellar's...come in 150, 300, 600 and 1000w. I use six of them regularly :).

I like the Bowens 500's Rick.. built to last m8...

I got a couple of Alien Bees 800s and they've been fantastic.

Not sure they're easily available in the UK though

Paul Buff (Alien Bees) sells by mail order only and yes, you can order direct from his website http://www.alienbees.com

Be aware though that they're no longer available in 240v so you'll need to get a transformer - not a big problem.

Alien Bees are very good value and popular with beginners in The States. They need careful handling though, the build quality isn't great

RU THE Garry Edwards who runs the lighting forum on photo.net?

I used to be one of the lighting moderators on PN, resigned all my moderation roles there back in October though
