Yes
I have a small industrial unit (1250 sq feet, east London outskirts, inside the M25)
I have been pondering on the idea of turning it into a studio for hire, does anyone think there would be a market for this?
If so what sort of rate would one expect to pay and what facilities would you expect?

If you want to charge top dollar you'd need to have the works really - Profoto lights and an infinity cove, some interchangeable backdrops, etc. I know that studios with all of this type of stuff in central London can charge between £400 and £800 per day, sometimes a lot more, depending on size and location. There is definitely a market for it, but you need to decide whether you'd be targeting professionals or amateurs as both would require a completely different amount of investment.

the studio i use charges £10 per hour and has 6 bowens flash units, two constant source daylight bowens units, loads of unbrellas soft boxes, strip boxes, gels etc the are two rooms, 5 sets, a cage various back grounds.

Hmm, I guess it would need to generate around £500 a day to cover costs and pay a wage so maybe not a good business idea.

Hi Richard,

if you own the studio, you could generate photography work there which should bring in more income than just letting off the studio.

POAH...

Which studio in Glasgow is this...?

I really need to get shootin...and the home studio will still be a while to complete...
