And what exactly do you plan to use it for? It does make a huge difference

At the momment Im always asked to do family and models, but its quite a game havin to cart all that equipment around set it up then after the shoot take it all down. I do lots for a dance school 200+ with lots of equires all the time and now for a Swimming club with over 400 . so protraits will be a big part. but I also have landed a job for some product photography. and they are huge and now I have a foot in the door who knows.

Well, that's still a bit vague but I'll try...

For models in particular, a strip softbox is invaluable, especially with a decent honeycomb on it.

Product photography is a very broad church, and I don't know what you mean by it, but if you mean small products then a decent sized product shooting table is almost a must. That will require a boom arm and at least one low level stand.

For that type of product photography, models and portraits you may want to get a 70cm beauty dish with honeycomb, and a much larger softbox.

TBH I can't see why you would need 4 x 60cm softboxes, or the barn doors, and I'm not sure why you need such powerful flashes - you'll probably run into problems turning them down low enough sometimes

LOL the softboxes where in the kits. and yes they are quite powerful and was looking at a pair of 250s but I don't think they are fan cooled which is a negative I do have a quadra setup for location and even 2 ex580ll. I will get a boom for sure and a beauty dish what strip box do you use ? i did think about the 140.
many thanks for your input

Well, Bowens 250's may not be fan cooled but Bowens aren't your only choice...
I use the Lencarta 140 x 30 softboxes in both folding and non folding, both with honeycombs when needed. The non folding are fine if you can leave them up permanently or don't have to take them down to often - if you do, the folding ones are a better choice.

The Quadra is fine for location use, the Lencarta Safari Li-on 2 head kit would have been much more suitable for you though - cheaper, far more flashes to a battery charge and takes the same accessories as your studio lights.

You'll find, once you've actually got going, that you'll need lots of nameless bits - small reflectors, cinefoil, blutak, gaffer tape, that sort of thing
