Hi all,

We're running a summer residential week/weekend type trip somewhere and just lost our massively cheap holiday cottages in Wales. I'd like some ideas to throw around at our meeting wednesday :D

Wanting cheap in uk or europe (or anywhere cheap to get to) suitable for photographers for a few days like to keep to below 250 all inc per head (as that means throwing society money in too). Our interests are pretty varied, portrait landscape, wildlife architecture, gigs. Numbers between 5 and 20 at a guess.

A few vague ones I got so far are:

holiday cottage in the Bude (Cornwall) vicinity as I can probs get one cheapish

a center parks type thing somewhere with good local trips

a hostel in just about any european country (Rhine area seemed like a funky idea)

Scottish highlands but its a helluva drive

Big issues are:
transport (limited drivers)
security - loadsa camera kit in hostels and the like
cost - we're student bums
airline luggage/hand luggage weights - seemed like an issue in the pub
awesomeness of the location

All help appreciated ;)

oh and anyone volunteering to be a local guide gets the promise of hot student girls (or guys if you're the other way around)

one thing that we've had problems with before, if you've got lots of internationals on your books, they might not be able to get visas to head off elsewhere... I'll chat to you on msn, might be able to throw some ideas about...

David, have you thought about YHA hostels? There's on in West Lulworth (Dorset) which is home of the lovely Lulworth Cove and Durdle door. It's about 4 miles from the local train station (Wool) which has links to Weymouth, Poole, Bournemouth etc, and tickets aren't too expensive. There's a couple of nice pubs in Lulworth, though it'll be busy in the summer. 6 miles from West Lulworth is where I live and work, Bovington, home to the Bovington tank museum, and also Cloud's Hill cottage. Bring your walking kit for Lulworth as there are miles of lovely coastal paths for the landscape fanatics, as well as plenty of lovely locations for out-and-about portraits. I could also have a dig about and find the nearest rental studio.

Of course, if you end up in Lulworth I'd be more than happy to help where I can. I'm no tour guide, and I tend to work a lot over the summer, but if I can help I will :D
