Yes
Ok, probably not for this summer but next, a few people are thinking about a trip to see somewhere different and i rekoned a number of more well traveled members would be able to make suggestions
.
We estimate a budget of 1-1.5k for the trip but obviously the cheaper the better, and being aged 19-20 we wont be able to hire cars at the destination as i believe most places want you to be 25+.

I figured morroco or egypt would be great since they are relatively close but still quite exotic, i would consider india but thialand, china and south america as awesome as they might be seem a little far given the budget.

So where to?

For me, recommendations can only go so far. You need to think long and hard about what you want to get out of a holiday and where you want to visit.

For me, the big holiday plans I have centre around Australia as I'm very keen on scuba diving along the Great Barrier Reef and in the wreck of the SS Yongala. Besides that, I plan on working a ski season in France or Switzerland over the coming winter. Like I said, though, these are very personal ambitions for my holidays and you need to think what you'd want from your getaway.

UNESCO's World Heritage Sites list provides a great resource for some of the most universally recognised wonders of the world which may give you some indication of what sort of route to take if you're aiming to see some of the most monumental and important structures/sites in the world.

How many people? Is your budget per person, or a total budget for all of you? My brother managed to travel the world (with the exception on N. America) for 6 months on a budget of £2k

wow...2k? the budget is per person and looking at 2-3 people. Can i ask how your brother managed that?

He went on his own with just his backpack in tow. He had planned it all out for months before and flew from Manchester to Riga, Latvia. He used public transport to cross most of Europe and booked cheap flights from different countries. He mainly stayed in hostels. He used the Lonely Planet website for most of his planning.

Thailand should be do-able on your budget, and is an absolutely amazing place. I went in 2004 to Bangkok, Phuket & Phi Phi for about £1200 for 2 weeks - but that was staying in 5* luxury :D Thailand is well suited to young travellers, there are some excellent public transport systems, and there are lot of backpackers hostels around.

Vancouver is another place that is amazing. Canadian Affair often have some good offers on return flights (10 hours from UK, same as Thailand). There are excellent public transport links in Vancouver and to Vancouver Island, but public transport to the rest of the lower mainland is a little sketchy. Lots to see and do, and some cheap backpackers hostels around. Hotels are a little more expensive.

Hope that has given you some food for thought!!
