If in wrong forum - sorry :)

Anyway, do students get discounts on PS, LR, PSE and other Adobe products?

If so, how - and where can I find out more?

Thanks.

Yes, although it's better to buy the academic versions rather than the student versions.

I bought CS5 and Lightroom 3 whilst I was a student, fortunately I only finished my HNC on the 26th June so qualified to buy them.

You can check out Studica.com and also education-store.com both require you to submit proof of being an academic (student, teacher, lecturer etc) and as I was a mature student I had to submit my photo ID driving license.

Guys - thanks so much for the info. My Mrs is starting her degree in Sept so she'll need CS and LR :)

I bought CS5 Design Premium from here no problems at all I just forwarded a letter from the HR Dept confirming my position as an Lecturer. I've also just ordered Lightroom 3 from Amazon as it was £64.39 delivered which is about £16 cheaper than getting it direct from Adobe.

What did you had to do after buying LR3 from amazon? Send email to Adobe? How can they verify if you are a student?
Sorry it this is a stupid question :P:P

I've just received my copy of Lightroom 3 today. All I've done today is log onto my adobe account and then select the support portal in there I have entered my coupon code that was inside the lightroom box.
I then uploaded a letter I have from my HR dept that verifies my position as a lecturer. Students can I believe get a letter from their college/uni/school to verify their status.
I have now submitted this for verification and I should have my serial within 1-3 working days.

It's all OK as long you are using it for learning/teaching.
From what I understand the license won't cover professional use.
But I guess it's good as a starting point. You can probably upgrade to a full version later.

Not so :nono: Adobe have changed the rules and both the Student and Educational versions are now available for commercial use including after you graduate.

Adobe requirements!

I think the only thing to this is that these Academic copies don't qualify for a discounted upgrade. At least that was the case when I was a mature student, got myself LR1 but couldn't upgrade it to LR2.

Took Adobe a good couple of weeks before they gave me the serial number; apparently they've had to actual verification feedback from the university as to whether my submitted documents were legitimate or not.

Good to know! Nice move from Adobe.

So you had to buy the full version of LR2?

I bought PS CS4 Student ver from Apple store for £150. I emailed Apple with a scan of my enrolment card and had the serial number from them in 20min.

I'm told that the student ver is exactly the same as retail but you cant use it for commercial purposes .... how are they going to police that though !!!

So you had to buy the full version of LR2?

Exactly, and by then I was no longer a student; so, I've paid the full price for LR2 (fair enough).

Still, I did make a good saving when I initially bought into LR1 and that was pretty good enough for me.

I am now contemplating getting LR3, I just need to see with Adobe if I can transfer the license, for LR2, to someone else. If so, then I may give LR2 to my daughter, and get LR3 for myself.

I bought CS5 and LR3 from Adobe recently (the student editions) and got the serial within 5 minutes in one case, and an hour in the other. I just had to send a scanned in image of my student card.

I confirmed and reconfirmed with them that I could use it for commerical purposes as you couldn't with CS4. Now, we can at last, just like customers in the US can.

I bought one from Amazon and the other direct from Adobe (you can use Quidco with Adobe). It was really quick from download to install from Adobe but I had to wait a while for the delivery from Amazon. There was a URL I had to go to and a serial number to enter before I could start to register the Amazon one.
