Hi all!

I've been dying to get out and about with my cameras but unfortunately either due to the horrible weather (apart from the snow!) or little ones being poorly sick I've been stuck indoors. Has anyone got any ideas to help me get creative with some indoor photography??

Do you own a macro lens? You'd be surprised what you can make interesting at 1:1 - do a root about the house for interesting textures, jewelry, toys, food! ... etc ... That's what I do when real bored and just itching to shoot something. Get the macro out.
 
Winter light coming through windows can do fantastic things. Try a still life on a low-ish table with the light coming over your shoulder a little to one side. Try to create a clear background or find something to use as a drop - a sheet or blanket over the back of a chair can work.
 
I haven't got a dedicated macro lens however I've got a tamaron 70-300 which has a macro focus switch. I haven't used this function yet so it would give me a chance to play around.

We have just moved house, before Christmas, and our new one has a conservatory so it would be ideal for the natural light suggestion especially as it has plain roll blinds which could be used as a backdrop!

Think I'm getting some mojo back! Lol

Enter the POTY 2013 competition for February - close up/macros and the like
 
Close up stuff, collect interesting objects when out and then photograph them inside, portraits and of course shoot the garden birds outside your windows.

Competition is really good at focusing on what you need to do to improve and making you start to look at your photos in a critical manner - well if find it good anyway.

What's there to loose? :thumbs:
 
Might have a go at POTY myself. Forgot all about it last month.

I've started the garden birds getting a good few visitors to the garden. Good ideas thanks for the advice!

I should make the effort and try at least one entry for POTY13!
