Ok, i saw a photoshop tutorial in a book or magazine recently, i think it was one of those special guides to photoshop that sell for about £8.
it had something in there about making a person look as if they were shrinked down and put in a jar.
I didn't buy the magazine :/ does anyone know this tutorial or how to do this technique

thanks x

I haven't seen the tutorial you mean but I'd guess they cut out the person and layer it over the jar picture. Part of the trick is getting the lighting to match on both shots and not getting too many reflections on the jar shot.

yeah well i'll stage both photographs and get my lighting the same. its a specific tutorial i'm after and i can't seem to find it on the web. looks like i'm shelling out for the book! :(

Now you know it makes sense :D bet there are loads of tricks in't book you can share with us........:D:D:D

What your asking isn't difficult to do but does involve a few different steps some are difficult to explain to someone who sounds unfamilar with photoshop (sorry if I'm wrong) and who may not not how some of the tools work.
What version of photoshop do you have? and how familar with it are you? do you understand layer masks and selections? I'll try and put something together when I get home this evening.

i'm quite familiar with photoshop, i'm using cs3, and layer masks and selections are no problem at all. Its just i've never attempted anything like this before. Most of the work i do with photoshop is to improve existing pictures rather than make new ones.
A guide would be awesome! and anything i didn't understand i could look up anyway, thank you :) x

Step 1 open your 2 images in PS and start on the person one.
Step 2 with the person pic open select all and copy, then click on your jar picture and paste.
Step 3 on the person layer use the selection tool of your choice to select the person, feather your selection by maybe 1 or 2 pixles (just enough to soften the edge slightly) then when your happy click the layer mask icon on the layers palette, this makes the background vanish, use free transform to resize your person.
Step 4 add a new layer and paint on a low opacity black shadow under your subject just to add a little more realisim.
